Trinity has before complained we don’t cover them sufficiently. We would beg to differ as we have feature quite a few of its primetime players through the years but we probably don’t write about Kentucky’s most talented roster as much as we could. Of course, we can’t just perpetually feature one team, unless their hiring. Anyway, this kid here will play big-time, college football because of his speed, regardless of what he does or doesn’t do on the football field. Good thing he is good on the football field too. We have been projecting the top-5 team, preseason, in each of Kentucky’s six-classifications. We have been bold in some of our predictions, picking some wild cards we aren’t sure everyone would pick. Here is how we see Class 5A fleshing out. If we didn’t pick your team and you see a district opponent listed among our top-5, that means we don’t think you see round three. We have made it no secret we enjoy publicizing the players who rarely get any publicity, the offensive linemen across Kentucky. Well, if I were putting together a line of scrimmage from all of the linemen across the commonwealth of Kentucky to play a football game, the Big Nashty would be prominently discussed as a starter on this line. Brenton Willoughby will play for Knox Central in ’21 and nobody is more excited than the people in Barbourville, Kentucky. Jovari Gamble is a prime example of a kid whose recruitment suffers a little from not playing football in a larger town and in a bigger classification. Hey, we can’t help where our families locate and in what school districts we happen to live. Still, recruiters shouldn’t consider Russellville a 1A team as the Panthers have historically shown they can play with pretty much anyone, particularly out west. To us, this kid’s recruitment depends on what speed he either has or hasn’t in the eyes of the schools recruiting him. As far as “dominating” the level he’s on…he is certainly doing that! Kel Hawkins is a name one might want to write down if you’re in to tracking the top Kentucky football talent. Several of us which do this sort of thing regularly have him penciled into our “Top 22’s” list. He is a versatile athlete with the frame to play safety in D-1 and the speed to play corner. Regardless, this combination WR/DB has proven he is a top-quality prospect on either side of the football. Enjoy the feature. HB.
