Destin Cheirs, when last we heard, was going to attend Murray State and try his hand at Ohio Valley Conference Football. Well, it would appear he will aim his sights a bit higher. Cheirs has the opportunity to “bet on himself” and attempt to make the Louisville Cardinals football team which competes at the FBS, Power-5 level (ACC). In the end, it was too good of an opportunity to not risk it. We voted for Layton Davis, first-team (on our AP ballot), when he was still at Caldwell County last season. Layton was “Honorably Mentioned” on the AP team and first-team on KPGFootball’s squad as only a junior. There isn’t a coach in the West who wouldn’t pick him first if assembling a team and needing an inside presence along the front. This kid is All-State, all day long, and our sources tell us might possibly be headed to play for Lindsey-Wilson. Enjoy the feature. HB.
