Byce Patterson is the “Woodford Reserve” of Woodford County QBs

The Class of 2022, three-sport athlete is expected to focus on QB in 2019 and is as smooth as one of Kentucky’s premium, small batch bourbon whiskeys!

We concede the title is misleading and for that we apologize. You see, we aren’t implying Bryce Patterson, Woodford County’s Class of 2022 signal-caller, is destined to be a second-teamer. That isn’t how we are using the term Woodford Reserve at all. People from Versailles, Kentucky know Woodford Reserve to be the premium, and not the second-rate, product of the Jim Beam bourbon whiskey line.

For the unsophisticated, Woodford Reserve is an elite brand of small batch Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced in Woodford County, Kentucky by the Brown-Forman Corporation. Bryce Patterson is a brand of superior and versatile athlete, the type who also comes in small batches and rather infrequently in any coach’s career. Patterson, also produced in Woodford County, Kentucky, is a member of the WCHS Yellow Jacket football team.

Patterson is 6-2 and weighs around 185 pounds. The Class of 2022 prospect plays basketball, where he played both point-guard and shooting forward; baseball, where he played both the middle infield and 3rd base; and football, where he has played both FS and QB. Patterson is expected to largely focus on QB in 2019.

Dennis Johnson’s Yellow-Jackets will need a solid year out of Bryce if they are to make serious noise in Class 5A, district 7. We had earlier picked Madison Southern to win the district but have to admit that between Collins (1-10 in 2018), both Jessamines (East and West were both 4-7 in 2018), Woodford County (2-9 in 2018), and Madison Southern (2-9 in 2018), that district is anyone’s for the taking.

So looking at Patterson, he has ideal frame to play the position where he is slotted for 2019. He has plenty of athleticism, being a three-sport starter at a 5A high school. He has plenty of enthusiasm for the sport, telling the student newspaper he prefers football to the other two because football is just more exciting game-play for him. He has the frame, length, head for the game, and arm strength, with mobility, to be a star for the Yellow Jackets. All of these attributes are considered requisites for where he is expected to play this Fall.

He looks, to KPGFootball, to be something special coming out of Woodford County, Kentucky…much like the premium, small batch, Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced in Woodford County, Kentucky by the Brown-Forman Corporation and known, world-wide, as Woodford Reserve.

So when we call him the Woodford Reserve of Woodford County QBs, you see; that’s one Hell of a compliment. In Versailles, Kentucky, everybody reading this article already knows that.
