There are tons of players of whom you know absolutely nothing who will hit the field this fall and bedazzle you with their brilliance. We see it season after season. However, at KPGFootball we feel the term “expertise” requires something of us. We like to get out and look at the up and coming kids and predict which of these kids will be future stars before anyone else. We believe Gary Daugherty, Jr. from Central High has the frame and the brains to emerge from the summer camp/combine circuit with an opportunity to show everyone what he can really do. We think the show may prove breathtaking. Enjoy this feature and let’s sit on this a second and see if we don’t prove ourselves correct, yet another time!

Zai’Vion Meads has been working out with Aspirations Gym this offseason. Aspirations Gym proprietor, Chris Vaughn, has been working out Louisville’s elite athletes for a long time, as long as we have been covering this sport. Vaugh has Meads “looking right.” Meads has exploded the myth the camera adds weight as he looks good live, or on film. Today, we award this prestigious, weekly distinction to one of the Derby City’s better DL prospects playing for one of Louisville’s deeper and most talented rosters. Nate Goodin is among the more productive dual-threat QBs in the mountains and plays for, historically, one of its stronger programs. Williamsburg hasn’t been as good this year as they have been in others but, they are young, and with talent like Nate Goodin around, the Yellow Jackets figure to be in the mix going forward. Of course, the young Jackets, coached by Jerry Herron, Jr. have to attempt to survive a trip to Pikeville, Kentucky in round two. That trip to Pikeville has taken down a many Yellow Jacket football team in years gone past. Friday Night Fletch

Damarien Mudd is an up and comer with a bright future playing for Louisville’s Central High. He is a track star, in addition to what he does on the football field. He didn’t get a ton of run in ’20 but we would expect him to be an active part of the team’s efforts in the Fall of ’22 and thereafter. Enjoy this look at a kid who will be a junior next year. HB.

Someone contacted old Coach Lyon and asked when we were going to put out our preseason top-10 football polls for each classification. Well, today seemed like as good a day as any to continue the tradition. Since KPGFootball started with the top classification when picking district winners, this time we started with Class 1A and yesterday we projected Class 3A. Today we give you our projections for the next classification up from the lowest one, here is Class 4A!
