Coach Eric Lasley has to be excited to be getting a player like Julian Barbour. I know Barbour was listed as a ’21 but he has told KPGFootball he will use his Re-Do to reclassify as a ’22. If he puts up numbers commensurate with the numbers he was on track to put up a year ago, look out! There will be plenty of suitors lining up to get on this prospect’s next-level dance card. It isn’t often a middle school player wins this coveted award. There are middle school players so dynamic, athletic, highly-skilled, and explosive we just can’t help ourselves. This kid here is a ’25 “Mr. Football Candidate” we wager. We thought he could use some protein enriched nourishment. This week’s recipient is simply among the hottest in-commonwealth prospects in all of Kentucky presently. With his academic performance, particularly where he has performed, expect him to fetch offers other athletes can only dream of getting. Here is a guy who can play any of the five offensive line positions as a high schooler, including out on the edge where Lafayette plays him. However, we believe Mackey’s future in college is along the interior and we believe he is an offensive lineman at the next level though we wouldn’t rule out his playing “strong tackle” or nose in college in suitable schemes. Enjoy the feature about a lineman flying under the radar but one who promises his best football is still ahead of him. HB.

Here’s a guy who is a star in the ’21 class but who is young enough to stay back and reclassify as a ’22 player. There is at least one college football program we have consulted who would like to see him reclassify and would like to take a run at him should he decide to do so. This guy has D-1 skills. Okay, people who want to take exception to characterizing Dylan Yates a “Break-out Player” make a compelling point. We love him and have been a big fan for a while. The argument of his having “Already Arrived” is a fair one. Just quit arguing semantics with us and enjoy the feature, will you? HB.
