Lasaters...time to wake up and smell the coffee!

’27 two way player showed up against the Tigers from Caldwell

Levi Kruse and company at Fort Campbell were cruising right along before hitting the buzz saw which is Caldwell County High in Princeton, Kentucky. The Tigers from Princeton are 5-1 so far this year and have the best team they have fielded in the last several years. While the loss dropped the Falcons to 3-3 on the year and was their first loss this season to a KHSAA member school, there is no reason to forlorn. The Falcons have four game remaining and three of them are games at home and against competition the Falcons will likely be favored to win. What will the Falcons do down the home stretch? We shall see…

Oak Grove, KY: Fort Campbell came into the Caldwell County game on a heater. KeShawn Dixon (’26) has been killing it (over a 1,000 yards rushing and 14-TDs already this season), JaCaryous Perryman (’26) has exhibited his being among the more versatile talents in the KHSAA, and Tanner Walters (’28) at QB is an experiment which has been paying off for the ball club since his earning the post (8-TD passes thrown in his 4-games).

This past Friday night, Fort Campbell met a proverbial “buzz saw” in the (now) 5-1 Tigers from Caldwell County High in Princeton. The Tigers unfurled a balanced attack featuring 143-rushing yards, 135-passing yards, some turnovers, and mighty fine defensive play to cage the Falcon horde invading its peaceful, tranquil, quaint, and quiet little town.

Levi Kruse was a bright spot for a Falcon team which left the field last weekend on the short end of a 49-12 score. The final was not as much of a runaway as the scoreboard made it appear.

Kruse accounted for all twelve (12) of the Falcon’s points. Kruse caught three (3) passes, two of which were for TDs. Kruse also contributed his customary solid defensive play from his defensive backfield position.

Kruse has been splendid on the season thus far. Kruse is leading the ball club with 4-TDs receiving and is tied for 2nd on the team in scoring. Kruse also has 24-tackles on the year for third (3rd) in that category.

The Fort is 3-3 on the year with four games remaining. Trigg, White Station (Memphis, ranked 173rd in TN and 1-4 on the year) and Crittenden are all at home and winnable.

Mayfield on the road to close the year is tough. However, as we learned well a season ago against 5A power Madisonville North Hopkins, any time two teams walk on a football field either of them could win the game. This is even more true with some of the weaponry the Falcons have in its well-stocked arsenal.

Identifying a potential weapon like Levi Kruse should certainly help get ready for the challenge ahead. That is why Levi Kruse is our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee Player of the Week.
