Thursday Night’s Weekly-Winners!

Monroe County at Edmonson County: This game pits two teams neither of which are particularly good in spite of Monroe being 3-3 so far this season. Edmonson is struggling this year, though we have known them to be good in the past. Edmonson is 1-5 on this year and after tomorrow night, they will be 1-6. This one is kind of a toss-up!

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Monroe County (in a close one).

Campbellsville at Metcalfe: Campbellsville has one of the top QBs in the Class of 2021 in Aaron “The Rifleman” Hash. Will it be enough to overcome Metcalfe. Uh…yeah!

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Campbellsville.

Warren East at Warren Central: Warren East has been markedly better since Jeff Griffith took over the program. Cary Fowler inherited a program on a 35-game losing streak. Under his stewardship the program has promptly dropped another 6 to run the streak to 41 losses consecutively. The offense at Warren Central is fantastic and Dre Boyd is worth the price of admission. Cary Fowler is a really fantastic coach, particularly defensively, and there are brighter days ahead for this program once he gets his type players in playing his schemes both effectively and efficiently. Warren will light up the scoreboard but, in the end, the defense for the Dragons puts up less resistance than a stout Autumn breeze.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Warren East.

Buillet Central at Doss: This is a game, like some above listed, between two “not so terrific” teams. Buillet Central has the added onus of having to travel to Doss and play them in the Derby City. This game will be hard fought and close but we look for Doss to come out of this pairing with its 4th win.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Louisville Doss.

Madisonville-North Hopkins at Hopkins County Central: Both of these teams are Madisonville, Kentucky teams so where the game is played is pretty meaningless. Their both being from Madisonville is the only similarity as Madisonville-North Hopkins is brimming with football talent up and down the roster and Hopkins County Central is, arguably, the worst football team competing in any of the KHSAA’s six classifications. Madisonville is a “Hail Mary” away from being 6-0 as they beat highly regarded Logan County everywhere but on the final scoreboard.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Madisonville-North Hopkins.

Louisville Male at Louisville Pleasure Ridge Park: Louisville Male is the 18th best football team in the United States of America says the latest edition of USA Today. PRP, frankly, may not be the 18th best team playing football in the city of Louisville, Kentucky.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Male.

DuPont Manual at Eastern: We have been predicted for three years Manual would be good this year. Why? Well, they have been stock-piling big-time talent from out of the coffers of the youth leagues and middle schools from around Louisville for that entire time. Well, they are really good and Louisville Eastern doesn’t figure to give them much of a game. It won’t be as one-sided as Male at PRP but it will be close.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…duPont Manual

Logan County at Hopkinsville: This is Thursday night’s marquee matchup and may be as good as any we will see all week-end long. These two teams are both ranked in the top 10 of the 4A classification and are battling for district one supremacy. Make no mistake about it, both these teams need to win this game! Now Logan County is having to play Hopkinsville after escaping Madisonville-North Hopkins on a “Hail Mary” miracle on the game’s last play. We would normally say things like that are a “once in a career” type event but Tyler Ezell, Logan’s Senior QB, does it with alarming frequency. However, KPGFootball is concerned Gary Hardy and Anthony “Rooster” Woodard getting injured against Madisonville-North Hopkins will dampen Logan’s ability to get out of Hopkinsville with a victory. Hopkinsville’s tandem of Jay Bland to Reece Jesse Jr. is scintillating and fantastic and Jesse is Kentucky’s very top WR-prospect in the Class of 2021 and an early leader for next year’s “Mr. Football” award. While it would be a mild upset, we like Hopkinsville in this game at home.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Hopkinsville.

Shawnee at Frankfort: We suppose we like Frankfort because they are at home and it is factually impossible for both these teams to lose; though, if it were it possible, one of these two would find a way. Shawnee is in the battle with Hopkins County Central for Kentucky’s worst high school football team.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Frankfort.

Martin County at East Ridge. Martin County has a good year going and East Ridge is in the business of lengthening the good season’s of its scheduled opponents.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Martin County.

Marion County at Valley: These two teams playing at Valley on Thursday night will resemble two mules fighting over the same turnip in a sack.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Valley (because they are at home).

Magoffin County at Lawrence County: Magoffin has taken some thumping of late, both at home at the hands of Breathitt County and on the road playing Belfry. Between those two games, Magoffin was able to go to Betsy Lane and come out on the good side of things. Lawrence County has a couple wins under its belt to and should win this close match-up largely owing to Lawrence County getting to play at home.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Lawrence County.

Fairdale at Western: Fairdale is 5-1 and enjoying a super season through its first six. The big complaint about Fairdale which we seem to hear about a lot of teams who are either undefeated or once beaten is but, they haven’t played anybody. Well, they are playing the schedule they are dealt and the district to which the KHSAA assigned them. Regardless, they will run the clock on a Western team which can’t seem to beat anyone.

KPGFootball’s Thursday weekly winner…Fairdale.
