The Yellow Jackets will be looking for a few young men to step up next season and make a home in the Jacket starting lineup. The Yellow Jackets have had wonderful back-to-back seasons, going to the State Championship game in 2017 and going 11-3 in 2018 and losing in the State Semis. Still, many of the players whom made that run of success possible have exhausted their eligibility and will be plying there trades for colleges and Universities next Fall in many of their instances. So who’s it going to be? We are sure Coach Wilson would love for us to have an answer for that.

There is a young sophomore who showed some promise in limited opportunity this past season who may be a candidate to fill some shoes both in the offensive backfield and aligned in the defensive second level. Kamrin Garrett is a running-back/middle line-backer with obvious physical attributes lending themselves nicely to both assignments. Kamrin, a Class of 2021 prospect, probably had his most viewed highlight against the Greenbrier Bobcats in 2018. Kamrin ripped off a 33 yard run from scrimmage against the cross-county rivals. If you are a sophomore, vying for some PT (playing time) at Springfield High School, coming in and galloping over the Bobcats for 33 yards makes for a fine audition in deed. On behalf of the Jacket faithful, we’re going to need to see a lot more of that in 2019 to fill the shoes which have been left behind.

Congratulations to sophomore, Kamrin Garrett for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.
