There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas whereIndependence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry. Independence Bank has a goal of achieving everyday excellence, and this week we are focusing some players who performed quite admirably and whose performance exceeded both the coaching staff’s and the Bowling Green, Kentucky community’s expectations. We are focusing on the the entire football team from Warren Central High School from Bowling Green, Kentucky right down the road from three Independence Bank branches located on 2415 Nashville Road; 1950 Scottsville Road; and Williamsburg Square, 877 Fairview Avenue.
It may seem odd to spotlight an 0-2 football team, but that record doesn’t tell the entire tale. You see, the Dragons from Warren Central have lost 31 of its previous 34 football games dating back to its watershed season record of 3-8 in 2015. The Dragons were winless in 2016 and 2017, and with the 0-2 start, they have dropped 26 straight football games. However, Warren Central did something no one in Kentucky could have forecast. The Dragons went out in week one, and its second game (as they played week zero) and made a nice showing against one of the highest regarded football teams in the Commonwealth in South Warren. While the Dragons lost 39-22, on the heals of losing in week zero to Class 5A Greenwood, 26-8, the fact they lost both these games a year ago 37-12 to Greenwood and 43-6 to South Warren, is an indication that opponents on the Dragons’ schedule might do well to not take these guys lightly. It would appear things are looking brighter at Warren Central, and that is hard work and progress worthy of both mention and celebration.
