’25 C/DT among the better and more physical players at his slotted positions
Ashby Spacek is a 6’0,” 270-pound center/defensive tackle who is a hard worker in the offseason (315-pound BP, 440-pound squat, and 260-pound PC). Spacek is a hard worker in the class room (3.7 GPA). Spacek is a hard worker on the field (15-games played at center and some spot duty at DT). He embodies all the attributes we have come to expect from that particular surname.

Mary Elizabeth Spacek was born Christmas Day in 1949. She has had a tremendous career in entertainment though you might not know her by her given names.
She has won an Academy Award, three Golden Globes, a Screen Actors Guild, and received nominations for four BAFTAs (British Academy Film Awards), three Primetime Emmys, and a Grammy. Yes, she does have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
You might know her by her stage name, “Sissy.” She did continue to use her real surname of “Spacek.”
We can’t claim Sissy Spacek has much connection with Kentucky. She did play Loretta Lynn in a movie (Cold Minor’s Daughter). Playing Loretta Lynn on the Silver Screen is enough “connection” to Kentucky to be in a feature published by this magazine.
“Spacek” is not a surname you see everyday. That is why when we saw the Mighty Mayfield Cardinals had a center/tackle combo guy named “Ashby Spacek” we had to wonder if there was a relation.
We don’t know the answer. We do know our “Spacek” can pick up an inside blitz better than Hollywood’s and can lift considerably more weight we would wager.
Mayfield’s “Spacek” is 6’0,” and weighs 270-pounds. He has a 3.7 GPA, bench presses 315-pounds, squats 440-pounds, and power cleans 260-pounds.
He has a qualifying ACT score (19) and is a member of the Mayfield team which captured the ’23, 2A KHSAA Football Championship.
Now we have no idea what kind of actor Ashby either is or is capable of becoming. We know this…he certainly ain’t no “Sissy.”
