Lasaters...time to wake up and smell the coffee!

’28 QB threw for three (3) TDs in the Falcons big won over Fort Knox in the Army Bowl

Tanner Walters has been moved over the QB to free up JP Perryman to just be what he is…an athlete. Walters move to QB paid big dividends as Fort Campbell prevailed against Fort Knox in the 49th edition of the Army Bowl. Fort Campbell has an opportunity to hit “reset,” brace for a visit from Hopkins County Central, and hope against hope to catch a hung over Storm squad coming off a 72-14 beat down to its cross-town rival on Morton’s Gap. Who will prevail on Friday at Fryar Stadium? We shall see…

Oak Grove, KY: Fort Campbell came into the Army Bowl this year a little reeling. The Falcons were coming off, back to back, lopsided losses at the hands of two Clarksville, TN powers both of which were playing very well this season against larger enrollments in the much more populous neighbor comprising our southeastern border.

This past Friday night, Fort Campbell renewed one of its older rivals, and probably among its more significant, when it renewed the 49th edition of the annual Army Bowl against Fort Knox. This game couldn’t have come at a better time.

Both schools entered the game boasting significant histories having before won KHSAA championships. Fort Knox has won three (3) previous titles (1983, 1988, and 1990) all under Poppa Joe Jaggers and Fort Campbell has won six titles (Class 1A 1976, 1978; Class 2A 1979 under Marshall Patterson and 2007, 2008, 2009 under Shawn Berner).

Fort Campbell leads the all-time series 33-16 after this latest edition. This victory came just in the nick of time for our Falcons.

Fort Campbell won the game 55-18 for its fourth straight win in the series. Keshawn Dixon (’26) carried the football 19-times for 230-yards and 5-TDs. JP Perryman (’26) had five (5) catches for 55-yards and a pair of scores. Perryman, playing both ways, picked a pair of passes defensively and returned one to the Fort Knox five-yard line at a key moment in the proceedings.

Our player of the week, Tanner Walters (’28), completed 70% of his passing attempts and threw for three (3) TDs. Levi Kruse (’27) caught a 32-yarder for one of the three scores through the air.

Fort Knox and Fort Campbell both left the field 1-2 on the season. Fort Campbell has an outstanding chance of evening its record, and righting its ship, at 2-2 with the Hopkins County Central “Storm” coming to town for a September 12, 2025 tilt.

Identifying a potential weapon like Tanner Walters should certainly help get ready for the challenge ahead. That is why Tanner Walters is our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee Player of the Week.
