This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. Thursdays, during the football season, we often publish an article which “shows our math.” If you read this article you will see why we picked the teams we picked to win and why we picked the teams we picked to lose. You may not agree and that is okay. We are wrong between 10-15% of the time. It makes for fine reading and generous discussion. Enjoy the article.

’30 big bodied, OL has a ton of length and a ton of upside! Big Ass Fans from Lexington, Kentucky has a simple corporate goal. The company is “creating a more comfortable world,” one fan at a time. The logo is the rear of a donkey (Fanny) swishing its tail back […]

Deonatae Edison is the Bank of Cadiz & Trust Co. Feature of the Week @KYHighFootball, @MurrayLedger, @CClakerfootball, @teeroyhowell, @khsaafootball, @bigassfans, @LasatersCoffee, @eCampusdotcom

May 25, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. Deonatae Edison is simply among the best multi-phase football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game today at any level and a tremendous prospect in more phases than just on defense. Edison broke onto the scene over his junior year and registered a team leading among of TFLs and QB-sacks. New head coach, Curtis Higgins (that felt funny calling him “New”) needs Edison to continue being among the commonwealth’s more talented three phase threats. Edison has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Edison is only going to improve over his senior season, particularly on defense where he should get many more opportunities. Edison is the kind of kid coaches want to coach and, in the end, that may be the finest compliment which can be paid to him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

Miles Hollon, from Breathitt County, has come literally miles in a short time @Qb1miles4, @BreckenHarvey, @cleats2whistle, @wood7walker, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @eCampusdotcom

April 23, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

Miles Hollon is a rare commodity among ’28 QBs. While many of them are selling “potential,” he’s selling production. How many QBs throw for close to 4,000 yards with around 50-thrown TDs entering their junior seasons? You can count them on less than a single hand. Hollon’s frame and growth potential are big pluses for him as he is today’s feature and a guy who has won almost every award one can bestow.

Rakale Johnson among the best athletes in 2027’s class in the Derby City/in the Bluegrass @rakalej_32, @CoachWatson9, @FHS_Dawgs_FB, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @eCampusdotcom, @coachdov, @bigassfans,

The Fairdale Bulldogs are among the better 5As yearly competing in KHSAA football around Louisville’s “Derby City.” Players and athletes like Rakale Johnson are a large reason why. Johnson is a 6’2,” 210-pounder who can play receiver, TE, RB, and OLB as well as contribute in a meaningful way to the special teams units. This kid has so much utility that he is also a 7.3-pts/7.3-rebounds a game guy in basketball. There are guys who can just do about anything you ask of them and Johnson certainly numbers among their ranks. Enjoy this look at a premier athlete/football player in the KHSAA entering the ’26 season, his senior campaign.

The ’30s are coming on the roster for the Fall 2026 season. They will be freshmen and some of them will start, many of them will playing meaningful, varsity snaps, many of them will contribute in tangible ways, and a few of them will round into immediate, HS stars. Bigs are hard to figure as some of these guys outgrow their athleticism and need a few years to recover. One guy who figures to be an immediate contributor, if not a starter is James “LJ” Smith, IV. He is 6’4,” 292-pounds, appears headed to Male High where he will play both basketball and football, and already has D-1s checking in on him. Enjoy this look at a young, KY phenom and let’s keep it comfortable out there Kentucky, brought to you by our friends at Big Ass Fans!

We call these the Seven-Eleven. We have identified seven small school players and 11-large school studs all of whom will move the needle considerably this coming Fall. These are the guys who, if they are ’27s, will be in the “Mr. Football” race, and if they are younger will be serious threats for post season accolades. These teams are the teams who will make deep playoff runs, if not win championships, next season too. Enjoy this look at the stars and players who will be drawing much of the ink as in-season coverage commences. Remember from where you first hear this.

Is Jalen Dantzler the best safety in @khsaafootball? Yep. @JalenDantzler_9, @CoachDantzler, @CHSJacketFB, @KyHighFootball, @Doug_Preston1, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom

February 12, 2026 Fletcher Long 0

Jalen Dantzler is either the best athlete in the high school game in Kentucky or certainly among them. This kid, frankly, has shown this offseason a penchant for doing physical things other kids just can’t. This kid is running the 40 in under 4.4-seconds, shuttling in the low 4.2’s, broad jumping close to 11-feet, all while standing a minimus of 6’2,” with a long reach and lengthy frame which may even add an inch or two before it is all said and done. This kid had a dynamite junior season for the Yellow Jackets and figures to add a senior year for the story books. At the end of the day, Jalen Dantzler is a high end, Division I backend guy with all the physical attributes and characteristics coveted by the “Big Boys.” Enjoy the feature.

McNary is Kentucky’s consummate FB. He is the best player, Kentucky-wide, at a position under utilized in the modern game. He is a throw-back to a simpler, tougher time and he keeps the “Air Raid” attack grounded. Enjoy the feature. FL.
