The ‘White Rhino’ hoping to hit the lineup for St. Xavier sooner rather than later @JaxonFrench29, @coacharichman, @Trent_Steelman, @CoachKWallace, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

We are just a few days from coming out of the abyss we affectionately know as “The Dead Period.” The season lies in wait for us on the other side. One thing we do offseason is inform readers about some of the stars coming out of middle school who figure to contribute right off the bat. Jaxon French is certainly a ’29 we could see working himself into the lineup early. He is 6’3,” 200-pounds and clips off 40-yards in the 4.5s. He is so good in the weight room he is called the “Iron Giant.” He is such a rarity as an athlete he is also nicknamed the “White Rhino.” Regardless of what you call him, if you’re calling football games at St. Xavier this Fall, you will be calling out his name sooner or later. Enjoy the feature.

Slow Motion Replay: Mike Glaser from St. Xavier was ‘Everyone’s Coach’ @GlaserMglaser, @StXTigerSports, @CoachKWallace, @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @StXTigersFB

You just can’t write a series of features about the best football coaches in KHSAA history without featuring the great Mike Glaser from St. Xavier. Glaser won over 81% of his games in football, won seven (7) titles, went to the title game 11-times, all the while making these men better players, athletes, students, Catholics, and citizens. Glaser focused on the good of the team, its players, and its coaches without ever really focusing on himself and what he did or failed to achieve. He was completely selfless. He was completely a class act. Enjoy this look at a guy who embodied “The Xaverian” principles of humility, simplicity, trust, compassion and zeal as well as any person to ever work for that diocese, or that school. Enjoy the feature.

Slow Motion Replay: Maybe all I know about Mike Yeagle, in the end, is he was a fine football coach @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @BeechwoodFB, @beechwood_tiger, @BeechwoodA

Mike Yeagle was as fine a football coach as the KHSAA has ever known. He coached football for 15-years, winning 183-games and losing a scant 27-times. Yeagle took over a Beechwood team which had one title prior to his being hired (1984) and turned the same Tiger squad into the KHSAA team of the 90s (7-titles in 10-years). At the end of the day, we have no idea how many titles nor games he might have won had he not retired when he did nor passed when he did. Sixty-two years old is mighty young to be passing on to your reward. Still, the Lord takes us when He is ready for us and when He thinks we have our best chance of redemption. In the end, Yeagle is missed and will never be fully replaced. Enjoy this feature.

Some kids play at programs where it is virtually impossible to see the field as a freshman. St. Xavier is one of those programs. However, Jack Barker’s not seeing the field on Friday night in ’22 doesn’t mean squat once ’23 gets here. Enjoy the feature. FL.

We are finishing this series with our preseason top 5 in the 6A classification. There are some teams missing here which will surprise some folks. We have sort of gone out on a limb here, but we are gamblers what can we say? Anyway, this is how we see it. Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves. HB.

@CarterGuillaum1 from @StXTigersFB is the @1776Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @MaxPreps

We believe Carter Guillaume is the best offensive center playing football anywhere in Kentucky’s high school version of the game today, at any level of play. As the Associated Press’s All-State teams were released a few weeks ago, it would be safe to assume we aren’t alone in this assessment. Enjoy this feature about this spectacular football player (and wrestler) and see our friends and learn why Independence Bank‘s products, people, and services have started a revolution in the Kentucky banking industry. HB.
