McLean County may be a team of whom you haven’t heard and Zach Wagner may be a coach with whom you are unfamiliar. However, what that tells me is you haven’t followed the KHSAA and its marquee sport (Football) very closely over the previous decade or so. Wagner is one of the area’s better head football coaches and the clip at which he has been fielding consistent winners in Calhoun, Kentucky is a testament to his ability to coach a football team. McLean runs a system the kids fit well and they consistently challenge for district and even regional supremacy in the area where they play and compete. McLean won another pivotal battle Thursday night and, with it, earned the ability to open the playoffs at home this year. Enjoy the article.

Zach Wagner runs one of the very high achieving football programs in Kentucky’s Class 2A, particularly on the western end of Kentucky. The Cougars run the Wing-T with a precision which makes its gaining ground on opponents a “given.” The turn-around this year, from 0-3 to the Regional Championship game, was particularly masterful. These are the type of bells heard after being “rung-up” by Jabin Wedding. Jabin is back for his senior year and McLean has it rolling in Class 2A, District 2.
