These guys are our ’22 Kentucky HS All-State defense. Some of these guys are highly and nationally rated and others are just darn-fine, high school football players. Regardless, they all seem to be very good players, and no-doubt all-staters, to us. Enjoy the feature. HB.

When you get to Kentucky 4A, that is the first class generally denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 4A level or higher gets increasingly rare. Here is our best guess concerning how this classification shakes out this coming season. Enjoy! HB.

Daisjaun Mercer is clearly taller than he has been consistently listed. We had heard that, but his running into Coach Long and me at the Hoptown/County basketball game the other night just proved it. He’s going to continue to stand tall as he enters his “Senior Year.” He may even prove tall enough to bring home the “Mr. Football” award this coming Fall. HB.

We believe in rewarding and reporting on outstanding line play at KPGFootball. We have been sent clips from the performance of Lucas Hughes from Friday night’s game with cross-town, hated rival Christian County and we must confess we were impressed. This 6-4, 270-pound class of ’22 “late bloomer” is showing that the flower which blooms last often blooms longest. Enjoy the feature. HB.

The Hoptown Tigers are LOADED! We had an agent at the Tigers scrimmage with Class 6A McCracken and they came away impressed. Their words reporting back to the office at the first of the week were, “These guys look all the way back to me…like mid-90s back!” That is saying quite a bit. It also means we likely had a serious omission from our preseason Top-5 in the 4A classification. However far the Tigers go this coming season, they will lean heavily on Daisjaun Mercer, this week’s award recipient for the reasons we have detailed herein. Friday night we have season openers so this is our last offseason award. It is all over but the crying now. Join us next week as we give this award to another worthy recipient. HB.

Here are the KPGFootball Freshman All-State defenders. Certain people at places like Daviess County think it our responsibility to watch highlights of each freshman playing football across Kentucky and select the team from there. It is not. It is the responsibility of our subscribers, who pay for this right, to nominate worthy players who we review after that process is done. If a really good freshman is missed here it is because he wasn’t nominated. If you would like to apportion blame for that, are you a subscriber to this site? Did you nominate the freshman whose omission you find to be error?
