Every year, rosters are charged with replacing outgoing talent with upgrades (if they are lucky). Eighth graders leave middle school, and enter ninth grade, more and more prepared to contribute on Friday nights than at any previous time. Dariyon Walker looks to crack the Storm’s lineup early in his high school career. Will he? We like his chances!

It is getting time for the now former 8th graders to report to their varsity teams. The Storm, when opening camp, will certainly have some prime timers joining them from middle school looking for PT. KJ Hayes will be one of them. As the reigning KYMSFA, Region I, Division I, Player of the Year, it wouldn’t surprise many to see this kid in the lineup early in his HS career. Enjoy the feature. Storm Warning: Clayton Scott may be appearing from thin air in the middle of the offensive front for The Storm in 2024- @HopkinsCentral @minguabeefjerky @1776Bank @840WHAS @PennyrileP

Hopkins County Central is serious about publicizing the talent on its roster. That is why we have been engaged to write these articles. This young man here is an example of the young roster talent being developed in Morton’s Gap. This is a program headed in the right direction. Enjoy this feature. Friday Night Fletch.

Coach Manning really had that South Hopkins football program humming. How much you ask? Well, they aren’t but a few years removed from playing for a KYMSFA state championship. Many of those stars are playing for the Storm right now. Coach Logan has suffered through some rebuilding years but folks around Morton’s Gap believe he has finally turned a corner. Enjoy the feature. FL.

@treymann_1 (Trey Sedgwick, c/o ’26 WR) is the @1776Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @KYFUTURESTARS @TNFutureStars

This week’s Revolutionary Player is one we had the pleasure of watching in the recent Tennessee/Kentucky Future Stars Classic. We believe he had the best game turned in by a WR at his stage of development we have ever before seen. That is mighty high praise indeed. Join us again next week as we award this very prestigious award to another outstanding recipient. HB.

Meanwhile, down on the farm…

They call minor league teams supplying the majors with talent a “Farm system.” You will see writers who cover MLB talk about news “Down on the Farm.” We have borrowed from that principal for this weekly segment on outstanding performances from middle school stars who will shortly be starring on Friday night. Believe me, their time will be here before you can possibly believe. Enjoy this regular, in-season, look at what is going on down on the farm. HB.

Anias MItchell, from Browning Springs Middle School is this week’s Independence Bank, Revolutionary Player of the Week

In honor of the upcoming Kentucky-Tennessee Future Stars Classic, we thought we would honor a Madisonville area middle schooler. We have already awarded this award to Jordan Miles who made Team Kentucky as a DB. We thought why not award it to Anias MItchell, who is an Alternate and isn’t quite on the team yet but has certainly shown he belongs in unique company when it comes to playing the game of football.
