Place Kicker/Lacrosse star believes the true prize in service to others & making a difference

Dean Hester’s only sport isn’t football. Hester plays “Attacker” in Lacrosse, and while I don’t know enough about Lacrosse to fully appreciate what that means, I do like the sound of it and applaud the position (at least) in theory. Hester is a senior and a specialist (place-kicker). As such, he has scored 4.2-points per ball game. We can tell you this, many a playoff game has turned, either for or against a team, based on 4.2-points. Hester is a weapon and will increasingly become more of a weapon as the Eagles continue to advance toward Kroger Field.

eCampus.com was built on a simple idea: make textbooks affordable, convenient, and accessible for every student. Founded in 1999 in Lexington, KY and backed by visionary investors like Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, the company has grown into a premier online textbook retailer for high school and college students nationwide.

Their mission has always been supporting student success both on and off the field through affordable access to the course materials they need. eCampus.com is excited to invest in our student-athletes through Kentucky Prep Gridiron (KPGFootball) which was founded to promote and assist young high school football players get promoted to “next level,” college football opportunities.

That is why eCampus.com sponsors the KPGFootball, Big Man on the eCampus series. This week’s Big Man on the eCampus is Lexington Christian Academy’s PK, Dean Hester (’26).

Hester is a superstar at the high school level and may feature prominently on All-State rosters at season’s end. Hester has converted 35 of his 39 PATs attempted. Hester has been called upon to kick a lone field goal; which he nailed!

Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) perennially competes for KHSAA championships at its level of play. Players developing into stars, like Dean Hester, has a ton to do with the program’s success.

Dean Hester, Committed to Williams College Lacrosse

Lexington, KY: Dean Hester is headed to college as an athlete. Matter of fact, Hester has committed to Williams College to play Lacrosse.

Williams College is a liberal arts college in Williamstown, Massachusetts. It was established as a men’s college in 1793 with funds from the estate of Ephraim Williams, a colonist from the Province of Massachusetts Bay who was killed in the French and Indian War in 1755.

Its colors are Purple and Gold. Its mascot is Ephelia the Purple Cow. James Garfield, the 20th President of the United States, attended Williams as did news anchor, Erin Burnett, and broadcast journalist, Mika Brzezinsk.

Hester has earned his way into Williams College, a liberal arts college which routinely ranks among the various “Top Colleges” rankings by the various services which publish such rankings. The school boasts nine (9) Pulitzer Prize winners, a Nobel laureate, 16 billionaires, 71 members of the US Congress, 22 Governors, three (3) prime ministers, and multiple Emmy, Oscar, Tony, and Grammy award winners.

Hester could have played collegiately in football too. College football programs are always searching for specialists like long snappers, holders, punters, and place kickers. Guys like these make a huge difference.

Football is not a sport where you can ignore the individual trees in favor of the forrest. The “minute details,” in a football game, can make all the difference between winning championships or losing and gaining an early start on basketball season.

LCA has a huge upcoming game for purposes of boosting the RPI. Pleasure Ridge Park (Louisville 6A) has struggled this year; but, with the RPI multipliers, scheduling the Panthers was a strategic and sound move. Metcalfe County is a 2A team. LCA is undefeated against 2A teams this season. Metcalfe is very unlikely to end that trend.

Friday Night Fletch

LCA has worked hard to climb to 6-3 on the year. The Eagles had lost three in a row to powerhouses Christian Academy-Louisville, Boyle County, and Franklin County prior to getting on this immediate five (5) game win streak.

Beginning with the “Holy War” with Lexington Catholic, the Eagles are riding a win-streak and can continue this climb, but only if we are firing on all cylinders. The staff has done an excellent job of insuring the team is both ready to play, regardless of opponent, and executing in fine form each and every week.

Pleasure Ridge Park may prove to be a test. The Panthers have a huge student body, large roster, and plenty of available talent from which to draw. However, the Eagles are a title contender in the 2A classification and rounding into playoff form at just the right time.

Obviously, Hester is a next level athlete or future college Lacrosse player as his being so characterized has been already determined by coaches paid to make such evaluations. We believe Hester could play football too and someone should call Coach [Mark] Raymond, the HFC of the Ephs program, and tell him he just might have an NESCAC, all-conference placekicker on the school’s Lacrosse roster. We just might get Hester, next year, ready in time to play in the “Biggest Little Game in America,” the annual tilt with Amherst College.

We know this, Hester’s performance, this season, only strengthens (in our minds) these predictions. We also know Hester, Mays, Bertram, Mathew Montgomery, and Nash Whelan are all strong, academic performers with both excellent class standings and sure-fire qualifying credentials for the NCAA Clearinghouse.

For now, Hester is one other thing, in addition to all the other skills and assets we have highlighted. Hester is among the very best PK prospects in the KHSAA’s ’26 graduating class and, also, our eCampus.com, Big Man on the eCampus for this week!

Join us next week as we return to honor another eCampus.com, Big Man on the eCampus. Until then, from any classroom to every field, eCampus.com delivers an easy, fast, and affordable way to order textbooks for students everywhere.
