This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. Thursdays, during the football season, we often publish an article which “shows our math.” If you read this article you will see why we picked the teams we picked to win and why we picked the teams we picked to lose. We are doing something a little different this year. We will highlight individual performances like last season but we also want to give fans a “scouting report” on some of the pivotal games. This week we look at the overall performance of the defense through the first two games. The team has played a 6A, talented roster in North Hardin, and a 5A finalist from a year ago in Pukaski County and has only surrendered 14-points all year long. As soon as we get the full thrust of the offense figured out and unpacked, this will make for one heck of a 2A ball club heading into the playoffs. We are perilously close to beginning the ’26 season in earnest. The Dead Period is days away from terminating and the end of Dead Period up until the opener is mandatory preparation, mandatory practice. We will be scrambling around ranking teams, ranking players, and beginning campaigns for players to make post season, all-this, all-that. One guy you should definitely monitor is LCA’s top notch IOL, Matthew Montgomery. He is a slightly undersized (by college prospect standards) powerhouse who may well be KY’s very best interior OL in the game. Enjoy this look at this exceptional player.
