We are doing something a little different this year. We will highlight individual performances like last season but we also want to give fans a “scouting report” on some of the pivotal games. This week we look at the overall performance of the defense through the first two games. The team has played a 6A, talented roster in North Hardin, and a 5A finalist from a year ago in Pukaski County and has only surrendered 14-points all year long. As soon as we get the full thrust of the offense figured out and unpacked, this will make for one heck of a 2A ball club heading into the playoffs. This week, at the Rebel Bowl, the Eagles will play a team and be cast in an unfamiliar role; the role of “underdog,” a role to which LCA isn’t very accustomed. However, if the Eagles can emerge from this game 2-0, with consecutive wins over a quality 6A squad (North Hardin) and a 5A finalist from 2025 (Pulaski County), think of the boost it will provide the team’s RPI! It is time to break down the 2A classification and eCampus.com is as interested in this class as any other business entity in the commonwealth of KY. We picked LCA a year ago and people thought we were crazy. The Eagles return a ton of production and, all of a sudden, our prognosis doesn’t appear so far fetched. Beechwood welcomes back an all-time coaching legend to its sideline and also returns a strong Mr. Football candidate in Tyler Fryman. Owensboro Catholic, Belfry, and Breathitt all have stars, are very well coached, and figure to make a run. Enjoy this look at the 2A classification as we gear up toward the opener.

We are perilously close to beginning the ’26 season in earnest. The Dead Period is days away from terminating and the end of Dead Period up until the opener is mandatory preparation, mandatory practice. We will be scrambling around ranking teams, ranking players, and beginning campaigns for players to make post season, all-this, all-that. One guy you should definitely monitor is LCA’s top notch IOL, Matthew Montgomery. He is a slightly undersized (by college prospect standards) powerhouse who may well be KY’s very best interior OL in the game. Enjoy this look at this exceptional player.
