Nate Goodin is among the more productive dual-threat QBs in the mountains and plays for, historically, one of its stronger programs. Williamsburg hasn’t been as good this year as they have been in others but, they are young, and with talent like Nate Goodin around, the Yellow Jackets figure to be in the mix going forward. Of course, the young Jackets, coached by Jerry Herron, Jr. have to attempt to survive a trip to Pikeville, Kentucky in round two. Paris heads to Lexington, KY to take on the 11-0, Sayre Spartans, and its splendiferous sophomore QB, Luke Pennington. Pennington had thrown 37-TD passes to zero INTs entering the first round game against Harlan. However, Paris has some fine talent of its own, including ’27 signal-caller, Julius Gregory and a young head coach everyone is talking discussing (Tyquan Rice, pictured). Every one talks about Montavin Quisenberry around the Boyle program and rightfully. However, Boyle has another athlete on its roster clipping off fully automated 10.8-second, 100-meter track times. That converts to a 40-yard dash time of 4.5-seconds (fully automated) which is blazing. This guy has averaged over 30-yards a reception this year and is second on the team in TDs receptions. Montavin Quisenberry, or “Q” as we call him around our offices, is the best football player in Kentucky’s ’25 graduating class. We have thought this for around three years, since back in his Garrard County days, and he has done nothing to dispel this belief. His night against Frederick Douglass, we felt, was jerky worthy. We love to come up with something clever in the title. Daulton Tarter’s name lends itself to “Tartar Sauce” references easily and we decided to go with that. Gatorade’s slogan, or one of them at least is, “Is it in you?” That is a very appropriate question and one which bears on how this kid came to commit to EKU. Hensley’s father was a four year football letterman at EKU and both his parents graduated from EKU. Do you know what is in him other than a legacy to EKU? This is Bryson Johnson and he is the best football player in 8th-grade anywhere in Kentucky. He forecasts as a LB, most likely, in high school but could find a home in the offensive backfield.
