There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry. Independence Bank has a goal of achieving everyday excellence, and this week we are focusing on a player whose performance in the first ballgame exceeded the Red Devils’ and the Owensboro, Kentucky community’s expectations. We are focusing on the class of 2019, quarter-back, Will Warren, from Owensboro Senior High which is right down the road from the 3 Independence Bank branches located on 2425 Frederica Street, 3228 KY-54, and 2465 W Parrish Avenue respectively.
Well, it was opening night, week zero, all over the Commonwealth of Kentucky and it certainly becomes quite fun, from here, tracking individual performances and awarding the different players of the week awards this publication extends. All eyes, in the Red Devil community, were focused on transfer QB, Will Warren. Warren, who was enrolled at Owensboro Catholic a year ago, is 6-2 and weighs a hefty 231 pounds. Everyone was excited and anxious to see how he would look at the helm of Senior’s new, diversified, offensive attack. Up first for the Red Devils was a team from Madisonville North-Hopkins, selected to play at the top of the 4A classification by most preseason pundits. I would say the early returns were quite favorable. According to the information related to KPGFootall this morning, Warren completed 18 of his 31 passing attempts for 254 yards with 5 passing TDs thrown to 4 different receivers and only one interception. Warren personally accounted for nearly 74 % of the Red Devils’ total offensive production on the evening (344 total yards of offense).
There certainly were some notable performances on the football field, last night, on both sides of the contest. Austin Gough, for Owensboro Senior, was credited with 10 tackles, a fumble recovery, and a strip on defense and looked good, in limited carries, offensively at one of the running back slots. Also, Jeriah Hightower, for North-Hopkins, gained 104 yards in 18 carries for the Marroons with his production being over 63% of the total ground gains for the Maroons (164 yards gained on the ground total). No one’s performance was more timely, and more important to the team’s outlook, than the performance of Warren whose debut enthused Red Devil diehards about Senior’s prospects, going forward, in 5A, district 1, as it should have.
Congratulations to QB, Will Warren, from Owensboro Senior High School for his Revolutionary Play which has earned him this week’s recognition from the fastest growing bank in the Commonwealth of Kentucky…your friends at Independence Bank.
