The Springfield Yellow Jackets opened at home with Big G, Gallatin High School, and were able to come out on top in a pivotal contest. A guy who really made a home for himself in the offensive backfield on the opening night was QB, Bryan Hayes. Hayes on the evening threw for three TDs whilst committing zero turnovers, which in a contest as contested as the football game in Springfield, Tennessee, last night, was very important. Hayes was a big play machine for Coach Dustin Wilson opening the second half with a 48 yard connection with receiver Colton Wachter for a score. Perhaps even more importantly, with the game very much in jeopardy, and Springfield needing a first down to salt away the clock; Hayes, on 4th and one, faked a give and rolled right powering through a defender whom had come down hill to meet him at the first down marker and picked up the most important conversion of the night. Thereafter, the Yellow Jackets were able to run out the clock and preserve for themselves a 31-26 victory. Last year’s Tennessee Class 4A finalist was able to come out the starting gate with a pivotal home victory which puts the team in fine stead to start the season.

Congratulations to Bryan Hayes for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.
