Franfort, KY: This Knox Barrett kid is starting to find himself on quite a few pre and post-season teams. We know Barrett made our Big Ass Fans (Large School) All-State Football Team as a sophomore. We know Barrett made our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Preseason, Nifty-Nichols team just last month.
The Nifty Nichols team featured the best 61 or so players entering the 2026 fall football season. These guys listed were all elite players both overall and for the positions where they were all slotted.
We have linked both teams above together with a link to last season’s All-State reveal show. If you. would like to know something about KHSAA football read up and give it a listen. It is a “Masters Class” on the present-day topic.
How can a kid do any better than make these teams and bask in the light of its fame, its glory? The answer…he can’t; not in this commonwealth.
Barrett has quite the frame. Barrett is 6’3,” 195-pounds with length and athleticism.
Did we mention Barrett’s 4.0-GPA? We wondered because colleges will love that equally as well as any of Barrett’s athletic accomplishments. These teams recruiting Barrett are institutions of higher learning, after all.
Barrett is 6’3,” 195 and threw for 3,119-yards, 37-TDs, with only 6-picks in 2025

Barrett, thus far over his varsity football career has literally done it all. Barrett has won games (14-1, 2025, 24-2 as a starter overall), played for the 4A championship twice, and has posted some eye-popping numbers.
Barrett completed 225 of his 321-passing attempts (70.1%) in 2025. Barrett threw for 3,119-yards, 37-TDs, with only 6-picks in 2025. Pretty amazing, wouldn’t you agree?
Since becoming a varsity starter, Barrett is 24-2 on the field. On top of the wins, Barrett has thrown for 4,391-career yards, 54-career passing TDs, 21- career rushing TDs, against only 11-career thrown INTs. Barrett has led his team to back-to-back, 4A title games which we may have said twice but that’s okay; it bears repeating.
These numbers are what they are. They are one other thing; darn hard to refute, darn impossible with which to argue.
Eddie James has been among the more consistently excellent field generals in the high school game. His teams win, plain and simply, all the time.
Franklin County is always in the title discussion at its level of play. While Franklin County has never won a KHSAA state football championship; the Flyer have finished as Class 4A state runners-up in 2020, 2024, and 2025. In spite of not winning the title, the Flyers have been a dominant force and deep playoff contenders, winning six (6) consecutive regional titles through 2025.
Still, Eddie James’s ball-club will break through. Its day is fast approaching. It will shortly break that damn and when it does the waters may get mighty high around Frankfort, Kentucky.
Do you know what generally helps teams reach the promise land? Outstanding play from its QB-slot. Play like the Flyers have been getting and appear poised to continue to get from Knox Barrett.
Then again, what do we know?
