@Jon_Nalley, Class of 2021-Daviess County, is certainly a long, tall drink of water

Where I grew up someone being referred to as a long, tall drink of water denoted someone who was tall, slender, and attractive. That description is somewhat apt in referencing Daviess County’s left tackle, Jon Nalley, ranked on Bluegrass Rivals as Kentucky’s 17th best offensive lineman in the commonwealth.

Not many people consider the 280-pounds at which Nalley tips the scale as being slender. However, when stretched out over a 6-foot, 6-inch frame, you can see it is hardly a robust amount of pounds for someone playing along the offensive front in the sport of football.

Nalley, whose highlights are here linked, is a late-bloomer evidenced by the fact we are just hearing about him to large degree. He has the perfect frame for where he is deployed, possessing both excellent height and length and the frame to stack on 310 or so pounds once he gets to a college training table and in a college strength program.

In watching Nalley’s film, he blocks multiple levels well and is adept at targeting and connecting with both 2nd and 3rd-level defenders when he is slipped out in front of down-the-field plays. He uses his lengthy wing-span well both in covering up would-be tacklers in the run game and in pass-sets.

Truth be told, we would like to see him play lower as he is a tackle against whom an up-field pass-rush specialist, with bend, can get under and rip-through. That being said, if the defender fails to get under his hands, he pass-sets well by keeping his shoulders squared-up and blocking rushers up from the ground-level, cutting them in half. We didn’t see film of him getting splayed open and then ripped back under, crossing his face to the QB, where Nalley appeared powerless to get the door shut.

Maybe the most important aspect to Nalley’s game is his being both an immediate Clearinghouse “No-problem” and even a candidate for Ivy-League recruitment. Nalley has earned both a 4.0 GPA and a registered 25 ACT score.

There are no reported offers for Nalley as of yet, which is one reason we think he’s a late bloomer only now ripening into his full frame. Nalley’s frame is FBS, power-5, and coaches will tell anyone inquiring they can’t coach frame. One has it or one doesn’t.

Nalley has been camping at places the likes of Kentucky and Miami of Ohio. Offers on this prospect are rapidly forthcoming, don’t you worry about that.

The reason we called Nalley a long, tall drink of water is because he has very good length, is slender (denoting there are very good pounds which could easily be added to his frame), and he is attractive. We don’t mean that in a good-looking sort of way though he is a good-looking kid, we would suppose. We really aren’t in the business of making those type assessments.

With his frame, length, and intelligence, he is certainly attractive to schools in the hunt for back-side, college, edge protection. In the end, that is the sort of good-looking Nalley is striving to achieve anyway, at least on the field.
