In the words of Kenny Loggins’ hit song from 1979, and to all our Class of 2020 players across Kentucky, “This is it…”

…the waiting is over. This is it. No one can tell what the future holds. One way or another… Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, This is it

We thought we would start out Monday of game week with a little pep-talk. We are talking mostly to the seniors across Kentucky (like “Red” Barnes from Hoptown, featured photo) who will be making a final journey through the high school regular season and, hopefully, the playoffs. However, it is just as applicable to all the “Friday-nighters” regardless of graduating class.

It is one of my favorite all time songs for the message it sends about performing when your back is against the wall. Standing and delivering when you have literally run out of options different from standing and fighting for what you both want and need. Make no mistake seniors, this is definitely it!

In keeping with the lyrics from the song released in 1979 as part of Kenny Loggins’ album, Keep the Fire, which netted him a Grammy Award in 1981 for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male, there are times in each of our lives where we have wondered why. Why do we find ourselves here, why are we aligned in this position, why are we even at the school we attend playing for this coach or that.

It may be an injury, it may be a position change, it may be a transfer to a new school, it may be an offseason coaching change and new staff; but we’ve all been left to wonder why. Entering the season which begins for most of Kentucky this Friday night, Mr. Loggins has a question for all of you out there.

Are you gonna wait for a sign, your miracle, stand up and fight…this is it! Yes, this is it.

For some of you wanting to continue to play, your back’s to the corner…the waiting is over, there is no where to run and no where to hide. This is it!

Men, the moment is now. Know, whatever you do, KPGFootball is here at your side. This season, this Fall, right now…here’s your miracle, so stand up and fight.

Everyone have a great season, it’s here, this is it. We can’t wait to report on how it unfolds.
