Freshman Braden Mundy is this week’s Independence Bank, Revolutionary POW

There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry. Independence Bank has a goal of achieving everyday excellence, and this week we are focusing on a player whose performance both has and continues to exceed both the Eagles’ and the Owensboro community’s expectations. We are focusing on the class of 2022, LB, Braden Mundy, from Owensboro, Kentucky, whose Owensboro Catholic High School is right down the road from 3 Independence Bank branches on 2425 Frederica Street, 2465 W. Parrish Avenue, and 3228 KY-54, respectively.Congratulations to Braden Mundy for his Revolutionary Play which has earned him this week’s recognition from the fastest growing bank in the Commonwealth of Kentucky…your friends at Independence Bank.

Mundy is also a top-flight baseball prospect at catcher

Owensboro Catholic was riding a three game win streak over the Murray High School Tigers coming into their 2nd round match-up in the KHSAA, Class 2A, playoff confrontation in Owensboro, Kentucky this past Friday night. Sure, the Tigers had strung together 4 straight victories prior to the past three, but who in the world can remember back that far? It all seemed to be going swimmingly too, as the Aces were up 26-0 over the Tigers and one of the principle plays which helped establish the margin was Freshman Braden Mundy’s punt return for a touchdown. Mundy is a freshman linebacker whom has seen action in 11 games this year for the Aces but mostly on special teams and mostly covering kicks and making tackles as opposed to handling punts but, Friday night, the freshman, whose role with Owensboro Catholic is going to increase in years subsequent to this one, found himself receiving a punt from Murray High and returning it to pay dirt. However, the Tigers (8-4) stormed back to eventually win the matchup between the two, 41-38, and now braces for a trip to Mayfield, Kentucky to face the top-ranked and undefeated Mayfield Cardinals (12-0) in Mayfield, Kentucky this next Friday night.

As for our Revolutionary Player of the Week, Braden Mundy and his teammates? Well, Mundy’s just a freshman and his teammates and he will now hit the weight room and the offseason conditioning program prepare for next season. KPGFootball believes you would be right to expect the 5-10 180 freshman linebacker will mature into becoming a household name in Western Kentucky football circles as he enters the starting line-up, at linebacker, for Catholic next Fall. What is most likely to happen between now and then? Well, I suppose we will see Mundy around the baseball diamond, behind the plate, this Spring as he doubles as one of the areas top baseball prospects.

Congratulations to freshman Braden Mundy for his Revolutionary Play which has earned him this week’s recognition from the fastest growing bank in the Commonwealth of Kentucky…your friends at Independence Bank.
