Could Alabama’s Kade Demsey end up at a KY college? @Kade372852, @BamaPrepsFB, @danvillefb, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom

Kade Demsey is an Alabama HS prospect who has drawn some attention from various Kentucky colleges. We have heard about the kid and we make the rounds. Demsey lives in Danville, Alabama. We have a Danville in Kentucky. What a coincidence. Demsey is 5’11,” 250-pounds with a 260-pound bench press, a four-plate (405-pound) back squat, and a 225-pound power clean. In other words, he is an averaged sized, HS player for his position with good strength/explosion numbers and adequate “twitch.” This young man is on his way to becoming a factor. He is still several miles away; and, no one knows this more than he. Every now and then we like to feature an out-of-commonwealth-er. Today was that day.

Danville, Alabama: Sometimes we feature an out-of-state prospect. I know, we are a commonwealth. Just go with the flow here.

We do these features for several reasons. First, these out of state guys follow us on Twitter/X. Secondly, the out of Kentucky guys following us on Twitter are usually in-KY, college targets, hence the reason they pick up on following us.

Finally, we admire out of Kentucky guys who regularly read us. It demonstrates they are as big of high school football junkies as we.

We junkies have to stick together. There aren’t as many of us still around as there used to be.

People commonly believe Alabama high school football is vastly superior to its KY version. To those people we would simply say, the in-commonwealth version of the game is better, and higher quality, than some of you believe.

Here is a kid, in Kade Demsey, who is undeniably a fine, Alabama, high school football player. Demsey found the lineup during the course of his sophomore year for a program which has seen better days (2-8 in ’25). Guys that find the varsity lineup as sophomores can develop into college players.

Demsey bench presses 260-pounds, squats 405, and power cleans 225. That is plenty of strength, explosion, and twitch to man the offensive center/defensive end slots for any high school football player entering his junior season.

Demsey is listed at 5’11,” 250-pounds, and wears number 51. That particular number tells us his staff sees him at center primarily.

Demsey’s defensive position is DE. Not a ton of DEs wear old number 51.

A kid playing center on a high school team in Alabama tells us a couple things. For starters, it tells us he is smart or well above average intelligence-wise. Secondly, it tells us he is plenty quick, agile, with good speed and movement.

One has to have something on the ball intellectually to make the protection and blocking calls and properly identify the blitzes and stunts from the fronts he regularly faces. One has to move well and be agile to get down field and occupy (in space) second and third level defenders.

Add all of this together and what is the sum total? What do you deduce from the addition of all of these parts?

We aren’t sure. We are willing to bet Demsey will round into a coveted and sought after next level player at some collegiate division. The division will rely on how his frame finishes.

If we turn around in a year or so and this center prospect has grown to 6’2,” 275-pounds then his next level destination will be a completely different analysis than it is presently. If we see a heavier, stronger, much more explosive prospect in a few years, but still a tad undersized, a tad short; some FCS to mid major FBS programs may be willing to assume a risk here.

We have seen 5’11,” high school studs go Division I and thrive. Remember Boyle County’s Wilson Kelly?

Kelly was a 5’11,” guy who became a multi-year starter for the Blue Raiders from Murfreesboro, TN (FBS, Division I, Mid-Major). Incidentally, the county seat of Boyle County is Danville, KY.

Isn’t that one heck of a coincidence? See you next season…
