Cade Scott has everything big-time programs covet among QBs. He is tall (6’5″), well put together (200-pounds), with plenty of bounce (varsity basketball star) and a versatile skill set athletically and intellectually (4.14 GPA). Scott, like so many other Kentuckians, is a football/basketball combo guy who several D-1s are noticing, including the three (3) who have already offered. He was lovingly referred to, throughout Kentucky, as “Poppa Joe.” He was also called the “Bear Bryant” of Kentucky High School football. Joe Jaggers, the patiarch of the first family of Kentucky High School football, died at the age of 81 in 2022. Jaggers was a 1958 graduate of Caldwell County High and a 1963 graduate of WKU where he played both football and golf. Jaggers was inducted into the Dawahare, KHSAA Hall of Fame in 1993. Enjoy this look back into the past at one of Kentucky’s all-time greats.

Fleming Thornton was among the more respected head football coaches to ever stride a sideline in Kentucky. He won more titles in South Carolina (3) than the two he won in the Bluegrass (1965 & 1966). Thornton had been a first-string tackle at Furman before launching a coaching career in 1949 which would end with his retiring in 1976. We are unsure how many games he won in total. We do know his 108-wins at Hoptown were good enough for the Dawahares folks to enshrine him in 1993.

BJ Flowers is like many young, talented athletes attending big-time, 6A schools with powerhouse football programs. Some of these guys struggle to see the field until their junior years. Flowers is a ’27 whose work on the JV was noteworthy. We believe Flowers is poised to make a splash in the Male defense this coming Fall. He has the skills. He has the tools. Does he have the “want to?” Only time will tell for sure. Enjoy this feature about a kid who is ready to make his move in ’25.

One doesn’t get much more versatile than Fort Campbell’s JaCaryous “JP” Perryman. Last season, as a junior (’26), Perryman rushed for 603-yards, housed seven (7)-TDs rushing, completed 62-passes for 912-yards and 13-TDs, caught four (4) passes for 62-yards and a TD, housed eight two-pointers, registered 20-tackles, forced two fumbles, recovered one, and picked a pair of passes for 5-IRNYs. Say all of that three times really fast. The guy is a fantastic athlete who competes in multiple sports for his high school which competed at a high level a year ago in winning half its games. We have been hitting the history of the game we love better than any other this offseason pretty hard. Thing is, if we don’t do this then who will? Ross Powers is a 5’7,” 190 pound football playing stud entering his senior year for the Hancock County Hornets. What did he do as a junior?
