Nobody has demonstrated a better eye for talent than the staff down at the Appalachia Prep Combine. So we thought it would be fun, as the APC was this last weekend, to let the Director of the APC, JT Powell, pick this year’s winner. Well he has chosen. Enjoy the feature and join us again next week when we adorn a new winner. HB.

Jovari Gamble is a prime example of a kid whose recruitment suffers a little from not playing football in a larger town and in a bigger classification. Hey, we can’t help where our families locate and in what school districts we happen to live. Still, recruiters shouldn’t consider Russellville a 1A team as the Panthers have historically shown they can play with pretty much anyone, particularly out west. To us, this kid’s recruitment depends on what speed he either has or hasn’t in the eyes of the schools recruiting him. As far as “dominating” the level he’s on…he is certainly doing that! Enjoy the feature. HB.

Kel Hawkins is a name one might want to write down if you’re in to tracking the top Kentucky football talent. Several of us which do this sort of thing regularly have him penciled into our “Top 22’s” list. He is a versatile athlete with the frame to play safety in D-1 and the speed to play corner. Regardless, this combination WR/DB has proven he is a top-quality prospect on either side of the football. Enjoy the feature. HB.

@Dj_griff15 (David Griffith) from @DeSalesColtsFB is a player who will absolutely explode onto the scene in ’21. @minguabeefjerky @1776Bank @KyHighFootball @PrepSpin

Some of these “Break-out Players” are players many in the Kentucky Press Corp should have already been featuring. This guy here would have to rank among ’22’s top returning players. He has everything you would look for were you recruiting to a Division I program at the LB position. He plays RB too, but we see him in the defensive second level as a collegian. Collegiately, we believe he will be somewhere in either the FCS or FBS. Enjoy the featue. HB.

@omarion_riddick from @toddco_football is the next in our series of ‘Break-out Players’ in ’21. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @1776Bank

Omarion Riddick is a name you should know around the commonwealth of Kentucky. He is a tremendous athlete with a college future though at what level exactly we just can’t accurately predict. He will be fast and tough enough for anyone. Enjoy this look at a “Break-out Player” sure to be on the tip of many reporters’ tongues in ’21. HB.

Noah Mize, class of ’22, from @Football_Hornet is the @1776Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week! @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball

Noah Mize is a guy opponents better not sleep on in ’21. This guy figures to be more of a factor this coming fall offensively for the Hornets and was plenty productive in the defensive backfield in ’20. He’s the kind of player around whom successful high school programs build. He’s also this week’s Revolutionary Player of the Week from your fastest growing financial institution in Kentucky, Independence Bank. Enjoy the feature. HB.

@loganlanders04 from @dave_brossart (Dixie Heights Football) may be the easiest “Break-out Player” call we have ever had to make. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @1776Bank

Northern Kentucky football fans complain they don’t get the same level of coverage within the commonwealth as other areas get. They would be right. I don’t know why we don’t scour Northern Kentucky similar to how we do the other Kentucky regions. By “we,” I am referring to the Kentucky […]
