@AmodeusTaylor from @bryanstationfb is the @minguabeefjerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week. @KyHighFootball @PrepSpin @1776Bank

This kid here, if size were the determining factor, has no business playing where 6A Bryan Station has him deployed. Yet, here he is statistically among the most productive linebackers in the entire commonwealth. Kids with the talent to overcome their frames and put their teams in position to succeed should be celebrated. Congratulations to Amodeus Taylor from Lexington’s Bryan Station High School and join us again next week as we celebrate another one-of-a-kind performer. HB.

RB/OLB @JveontaeEmerson (Jay Emerson) from @wjfootballcolts has set himself up for a huge ’21 season. @Minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @1776Bank @KyHighFootball

Many people around Kentucky believe it is J’Veontae Emerson’s time to shine. He reminds some of us around the magazine of North-Hopkins’ Jariah Hightower (Class of 2019) and that is quite the compliment in deed if you look at what Hightower did his final two seasons. Will Emerson do likewise? We ultimately don’t know but we believe he has similar skills and a similar frame. Enjoy the feature. HB.

@CamThomas2026_3 (Cam Thomas), c/o ’26, from @FootMiddle getting ready for the Future Stars and much more. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @1776Bank…Happy Memorial Day!

May 31, 2021 Henry Lyon 2

Don’t hold us to this, but we believe this is the first c/o ’26 player we have featured and Happy Memorial Day by the way. Cam Thomas and his Team Kentucky Future Star teammates are going to play their Tennessee counterparts in June in Nashville, Tennessee. We hope you will get to Nashville and watch what is incredibly sound and well played football by the best players either state has available. It is football at that grade level like you have never seen it played. You will be amazed. Enjoy the feature. HB.

There are many, many unknown football players across Kentucky. It is one reason we spend the offseason apprising our readers of where to look for the upcoming Fall heroes. Northern Kentucky is an area we are trying to give more attention as we feel these kids are player about whom we don’t know enough. We hope the Northern Kentucky folks (at least) appreciate our effort. Enjoy this feature about a Northern Kentucky kid who is a fine high-school player with limitless college potential. HB.

We have been focusing on the young Kentucky players who braved the challenges presented this past weekend at the prestigious Appalachia Prep Combine in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Young Jerrick Williams, from Owensboro High School was among their number. Enjoy this look at a kid who figures to frame out to the edge if his present growth rate continues as long as it appears it will. Enjoy the feature and join us again next week as we anoint another worthy recipient. HB.

@BrentonWilloug1, Class of ’23, is ready to get on the field for @FbKnox. All indications are they are equally excited about him. @PrepSpin @minguabeefjerky @1776Bank @KyHighFootball

Brenton Willoughby will play for Knox Central in ’21 and nobody is more excited than the people in Barbourville, Kentucky. This kid is a warhorse and has to be among the best ’23s anywhere across the commonwealth of Kentucky. If you want to know why that is, we have some answers for you in this article. Enjoy the feature. HB.

Nobody has demonstrated a better eye for talent than the staff down at the Appalachia Prep Combine. So we thought it would be fun, as the APC was this last weekend, to let the Director of the APC, JT Powell, pick this year’s winner. Well he has chosen. Enjoy the feature and join us again next week when we adorn a new winner. HB.

Jovari Gamble is a prime example of a kid whose recruitment suffers a little from not playing football in a larger town and in a bigger classification. Hey, we can’t help where our families locate and in what school districts we happen to live. Still, recruiters shouldn’t consider Russellville a 1A team as the Panthers have historically shown they can play with pretty much anyone, particularly out west. To us, this kid’s recruitment depends on what speed he either has or hasn’t in the eyes of the schools recruiting him. As far as “dominating” the level he’s on…he is certainly doing that! Enjoy the feature. HB.

@kelhawk03 (Kel Hawkins) from Dixie Heights Football (@dave_brossart) is among ’22s finest in Kentucky. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @tsfootball @1776Bank (featured image: from prospect’s Twitter)

Kel Hawkins is a name one might want to write down if you’re in to tracking the top Kentucky football talent. Several of us which do this sort of thing regularly have him penciled into our “Top 22’s” list. He is a versatile athlete with the frame to play safety in D-1 and the speed to play corner. Regardless, this combination WR/DB has proven he is a top-quality prospect on either side of the football. Enjoy the feature. HB.
