Jericho Butler, The ‘Sack Master’ of Henderson County @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @HCCols_Football, @bigassfans

June 10, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Henderson County has a long storied football tradition. We all remember a time Coach Randy Reese had the Colonels ranked at the top of Kentucky in both 1987 and 1988. We all remember his winning five (5) consecutive districts before bolting for Warren East. Coach Boston had a few good years before stepping down at the end of the 2024 season. Coach John Elliott take the reins and this isn’t his first Henderson, Kentucky rodeo having twice been on the staff at the school prior to his being named the head coach. Elliott is an inductee into the Indiana High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame so no one will be taking it easy on any John Elliott coach time, if you catch my drift. Elliott will not find the cupboard barren, as he returns last year’s “Sack Master,” Jericho Butler. Enjoy the feature.

Brody Calhoun from Trigg County maybe one of the best linebackers, at his level of play, of whom you haven’t heard @BrodyCalhoun22, @CoachEzell45, @TriggFootball, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

June 9, 2025 Fletcher Long 1

Brody Calhoun is an example of a star HS player who is very likely to play in college but at what competitive level we aren’t in a position to accurately forecast. You see, there is a possibility Calhoun isn’t done growing so to know at what college level he may play we would have to speculate how his frame finishes. We just aren’t in a position to know. Calhoun’s on field production is “off the charts” as the rising junior has made close to 160-career tackles and hasn’t taken his first 11th-grade class yet. We are approaching “Dead Period” so get ready. Not much lies on the other side of “Dead Period” apart from two preseason scrimmages and opening night. We’re ready. We hope you are. Enjoy the feature.

Looking for a dark horse ‘Mr. Football’ candidate? We have got one for you: Lucas Tompkins from North Oldham @JBrown_YL, @LucasTompkins5, @NOHSFball, @BDRoberts20, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

June 7, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

We love versatility and athleticism at KPGFootball. Matter of fact, we have been featuring kids in the high school game who thrive in multiple phases of football for well over a year. We thing a “Mr. Football” candidate should be good at, well,…Football! Fancy that! Well, if you are looking for a dark horse candidate for “Mr. Football” in ’25 may we suggest you check out North Oldham’s Lucas Thompkins. Thompkins is a 6’1,” 185-pound DB/WR who killed it on both sides of the football his junior year. Enjoy this feature and remember where you first heard this.

Lucas Fint, 2028 Nose from Scott County is the @bigassfans Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week @FintLucas, @cards_football, @JermaineDHarmon, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky

June 5, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Lucas Flint may be the strongest rising sophomore in KHSAA history. Fling it 6’1,” and weighs 285-pounds. He has bench pressed 405, squatted 555, power cleaned 275, and runs the 40-yard dash in a cool 4.9-seconds. He’s 15-freaking-years-old. This cat had 29-tackles playing 5A football in the commonwealth of Kentucky a year ago for a team routinely in the hunt for the 5A title. He plays for one of the best coaches to have ever walked a sideline and he is perfectly positioned to turn into a very highly recruited prospect. We love his frame, right now, for where he is projected to play next level, which is nose. He could turn around and make a “Drake Jackson-type” center on the offensive side, next level too. Lucas Franklin Flint, better learn the name now because everyone will want to know it in just a couple short years. Let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, and allow us to help you out in that regard.

Storm Warning: Central plans on unveiling a new scoring weapon in ’25 @HopkinsCentral, @_CoachManning, @evans02_mike, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

Blaze Whitaker is an accomplished soccer player. He has made All-State teams and All-Region teams in that sport where he stars on the varsity team as an “Attacking Midfielder.” I would say if there is a soccer player in the world who could transition to American Football, it would be the “Attacking Midfielder.” When in doubt, attack! Whitaker got seven games of run in ’24 as a sophomore and converted 12 of his 23 PAT attempts. We would like to see that conversion rate increase significantly as would the Storm coaching staff. That said, there is no reason to not expect significant improvement with more practice and more experience coupled with anatomical development. Enjoy this feature about a kid who plays an important phase of football often overlooked.

Bryson ‘Cowboy’ Ford, from Christian County High is our Mingua Beef Jerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week @BrysonFord34, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @CountyMustangs, @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball @CoachAtchley, @ColonelFootball

June 4, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Bryson Ford is one of ’29s finest at either MLB or TE. It isn’t likely he plays both ways at 6A Christian County, at least not as a freshman. It is highly likely he gets varsity early run on defense. They call him “Cowboy” and the nickname just fits. Unlike the song written by Ed and Patsy Bruce, letting your son grow up to be this particular “Cowboy” isn’t nearly as bad a prospect as the other type of cowboy. This kid has enviable length, a solid frame, and has his strength and power numbers close to where you would like to see them. If we can get a little height and more density we will be cooking with grease. Enjoy this feature on a kid very deserving of some of the world’s finest beef jerky products and don’t forget to #SavorTheFlavor out there in Christian County, KY.

Kam Wells, ’29 NG/OG, from Christian County High is the Kentucky Comfort Creator of the Week @CoachAtchley, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @ColonelFootball,

May 30, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Kam Wells is a beast whose frame can virtually finish anywhere. He is strong as a bull, wins the leverage game against about anyone, has tremendous leg kick and explosion, and elite strength and power. Wells will likely have to be deployed “both ways” this coming Fall even though he will be a freshman. We have seen freshmen start at really good programs and acquit themselves very, very well. What will Wells do? We would be surprised if he did anything less than dominate many of his mirrors over the course of his initial campaign. Enjoy this feature about a kid whose performance made the unbearable heat a tad more bearable and who hopes his performance brings comfort to the home fans around Christian County, KY this upcoming Fall. Let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, and allow us to help you out in that regard.

Branson Jones from Estill County is our Mingua Beef Jerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week @BransonJones_2, @EstillAthletics, @CKYEastFCA, @minguabeefjerky, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans

May 28, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Branson Jones is a kid who made about every middle school postseason team a kid his age can make. Jones was selected to the Best of the Region twice, and was awarded a “golden ticket” to the FBI Top Gun 2024 combine. Estill is coming off a 6-5 which was a single point from being a 7-4 and could use an infusion of talent on its varsity roster. Is Jones the guy? We think if things fall into place, he sure could be. Enjoy this feature on a kid very deserving of some of the world’s finest beef jerky products and don’t forget to #SavorTheFlavor over there in Irvine, KY.

Jesse Clark is a 6’3,” 260 pound DE who many believe is about the best DE on the western end of KY. Clark has the frame, length, and size you want at the “big schools” and with a 3.5-GPA he is also sure to gain admission pretty much everywhere from the SEC to the Ivy-League. This kid has plenty of “leg kick” and get off coming around the end and his explosion will only increase as he matures physically. This is a long, tall, lengthy, edge presence schools love to be able to slot defensively. Enjoy this feature.

Union needed a RB in 2021 and Isaiah Wright, from Last Chance U, was the man for the job @isaiahwright01, @KyHighFootball, @bigassfans, @minguabeefjerky, @UnionBulldogs, @CoachLuttrell49

May 17, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

Isaiah Wright got another chance, both on the series “Last Chance U” and in Barbourville, Kentucky, to follow his dream. We were there to catch his rushing output against Campbellsville which was the second most prodigious output in Union football history. Wright’s performance that day crystallized an important message to young, KHSAA football players…if you think you are “too good” to play NAIA football, you better rethink it. There is talent abundant at all levels of college football and the developments involving the transfer portal and NIL have done nothing but make the “lower levels” of college ball even more competitive than prior times. Enjoy this feature, and try to learn something.
