’28 QB/ATH has his Spartans in the Catbird’s seat
The number one job of any high school quarterback is to win games. Camden Page from South Warren has surely done just that as the Spartans come into Friday night’s regional championship game (against 6-6 Henderson County) with a perfect (11-0) record. Should the Colonels come out on top tonight, it would constitute among the greatest playoff upsets in the history of the KHSAA. Page has been splendid this year, completing nearly 73% of his passing attempts, close to eclipsing 2,000-passing yards on the year, and posting a 4:1 TD to INT ratio (20-TDs, 5-INTs). What will he do tonight? Stud completely out would be our guess.

Bowling Green, KY: Have you ever heard of being in the catbird’s seat? I wonder how many of you know what a “Catbird” actually is?
Here’s a hint, it isn’t a cat. The gray catbird is a medium sized bird with the scientific name of Dumetella carolinensis.
The grey catbird is a North American and Central American perching bird of the mimid family. It is the only member of the catbird genus Dumetella. It is among the basal lineages of the Mimidae, probably a closer relative to the Caribbean thrasher and trembler assemblage than the mockingbirds and Taxostoma thrashers. Some areas call it the slate colored mockingbird.
Catbirds tend to be in good position. The Oxford English Dictionary claims the use of the “catbird seat” was from a 1942 humorous short story by James Thurber entitled, “The Catbird Seat.”
The short story has a character named “Mrs. Barrows” who is fond of the phrase. It is supposed the character picked up the phrase from the baseball broadcaster, Red Barber (The Ol’ Redhead), and that sitting in the catbird seat meant to be sitting pretty, like a batter with a three balls and no strikes count.
How good is Camden Page? Chase Bell has been offered by Maryland can’t seem to unseat him…

South Warren knows all about the catbird’s seat. The Spartans enter tonight’s game with Henderson County (6-6) getting to play at home, with the classifications best record and highest RPI. The Spartans will be home all the way up until Kroger Field. Yessir, the catbird’s seat…

If any one player put South Warren in such a seat, Camden Page can make the claim as well as any member on the roster. Page, a ’27 QB who stands 6’4,” and weighs in at 190-pounds is having himself quite a season.
His backup, Chase Bell, is holding an offer to play Power 4, ACC football at Maryland. That should tell the reader something.
Page enters tonight’s game (at home) with Henderson having thrown for 1,874-yards and 20-TDs against 5-picks. Page has completed 134 or his 185-passing attempts for a completion percentage of around 73%.
Page is mobile. Page has rushed for four (4) scores and 236-yards on 43-carries (5.5-yards per carry.”
The most important statistic is the following: Page has led the team to a 11-0 mark (12-0 if you count the round one forfeit). Job number one for any quarterback is to lead the team to victory. Page has certainly done that.
