Bank of Cadiz & Trust Co. PoW

Ford, who pulled duty on offense (TE), defense (DE/LB), and on the coverage/return units has quite a future ahead of him

Just because the team on which you toiled struggled doesn’t mean there weren’t players on those rosters who performed very well. Bryson Ford came up from the middle school ranks with much fanfare and Ballyhoo and his performance, this season, proved him worthy of the praise and attention. First of all, Christian County only submitted statistics for nine (9) of its 10-games this year. Secondly, the Colonels made the playoffs but elected to forfeit that game, which wasn’t a popular choice among the staff and players let us assure you. That aside, you will struggle to find a freshman who played on par with Ford (Cowboy). Because of this, we (naturally) thought he should be our PoW for the Bank of Cadiz.

Friday Night Fletch

Hopkinsville, KY: We told you something a few weeks back worth reiterating. There are players who are college prospects and there are players who are “Friday-Nighters.” Then, there are players who are both.

Bryson “Cowboy” Ford is all football player. His performance as only a freshman playing 6A football supports that position.

Is Ford a college prospect? We believe he undoubtedly is but won’t know (for sure) his level until his frame finishes out. Right now, Ford is a fraction under 6′ and in the neighborhood of 175-pounds. A few more inches, some poundage, and faster, quicker, “twitchier” movement will put him firmly in the mix.

There aren’t a ton of freshmen who find the field on “Friday Nights” in the 6A classification. Ford not only “found the field,” he did so on both sides of the scrimmage lines and in all three phases of the game.

Ford led the Colonels with close to a hundred tackles. Ford was among the leaders in TFLs and FRs.

Playing in the opponent’s backfield and getting to the football are traits more often seen in older, more experienced players. Freshmen tend to let the plays come to them instead of getting down hill to meet the ball. Ford is a down-hiller and that is a characteristic which will only grow as he does.

There isn’t a better player in WKY’s ’29 class than Bryson Ford

Friday Night Fletch

We talked to a member of the coaching staff at Christian County about this player. Although he preferred remaining anonymous, his praise for this young player was both candid and effusive.

The coach told KPGFootball, “Ford is a kid with a frame possessing some length. Ford is ‘wiry’ and can easily pack 30-or so pounds on his frame and be that 6’1,” 210-pounder teams covet, both at the HS level and beyond.”

The coach continued, “Ford is a son of a coach. Ford’s football IQ and ‘nose for the football’ both underscore that character trait.”

Our anonymous coach concluded, “This kid can flat ball. Ford will only get better as he matures.”

This offseason represents a real opportunity for Ford to get to work on his movement and physique . This offseason will be Ford’s time to seize the mantle of the greats who have come along before him and run with it.

This is a big-time opportunity. This is when big-time players step up their games; big-timers like The Cowboy!

We can’t make it any simpler than that.
