One thing is for certain if you are hanging around the Judkins household; if Brennan goes to sit on the couch and you’re in his way it would be advisable to vacate and immediately. At 6-5 and tipping it around 350-pounds, the big fella is among the most imposing specimen playing high school football anywhere in Robertson County.

One would be grossly in error to focus only on his mass…which is massive. This kid, as you can tell from the way he has been deployed and the production he has amassed, can move and move well.

First of all, the two-way player who will be only a junior in 2019 plays guard along the OL. Guards are the ones out on the hoof for the offense usually blocking ahead of the running-back. Guards have to be multi-level blockers capable of going first when trapping, pulling out ahead of sweeping backs, and, when uncovered at the line, getting second and even third-level to “cover-up” the best athletes the opponent has on the defensive unit.

Speaking of defensively, big Judkins has been manning the NG slot along the DL. Over the course of his freshman and sophomore campaigns it has been reported to us he has nearly 50 tackles, 8 quarterback sacks, and has batted down a pass at the line. Since most high school players don’t get meaningful varsity-run until the junior year anyway, we would say this kid is off to a fast start.

Games are both won and lost upfront in football at any level. The Indians have one mountain who figures to be a difficult, Friday-night match-up for any prospective opponent in 2019.

Congratulations, to Brennan Judkins for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.
