When you get to Kentucky 4A, that is the first class generally denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 4A level or higher gets increasingly rare. We are ramping up toward the start of the ’22 season. No one is more excited than KPGFootball or the Mingua Beef Jerky Company. Brandon Hollis is a kid from whom we expect a huge performance over his senior season. He certainly has all the intangibles to strike it big this upcoming season. Here is our best guess at the five best teams heading into the ’22 season in the 3A classification. We were right on the money a year ago picking Belfry to win and Paducah to make the final game. Man, did we look stupid at the mid-way point and genius at the end. Hopefully, we will once again demonstrate our superior knowledge and work ethic. Enjoy. HB.

We went to a recent Christian County Colonel football practice and to say ZaQuan Quarles ‘stood out’ would be understated. Quarles is listed at 6’2″ but we believe that may be a tad short and his wingspan is something about which to write an epic poem. We believe this is a kid some colleges out there should be very excited about recruiting.

LaRue County’s all-everything QB from ’21 has bolted to LCA. Where does that leave the Hawks? Well, it leaves them in need of someone to step it up in ’22 particularly under center. We believe the job will fall to Riley Hatfield, or perhaps it should. We believe Hatfield has the frame and skills to excel there and will lead the program back to its usual place of prominence. Brian Crawford is a specimen. He is also about to be a junior. Why did he only get in one varsity game a year ago? We don’t know. Austin Trent is a ‘football player.’ There are some of you out there who know exactly what that means. There was a time when college programs knew the importance of ‘football players’ though we are as sure of that still being true as we once were.
