’25 DL from Cooper High committed to the Tar Heels (NC)
Austin Alexander is a kid we have been writing about since he was in the middle school ranks. He is the nephew of the great Shaun Alexander, who prepped at Boone County, played for Alabama in college, and became one of the best running backs the NFL has ever experienced (9,453-career yards, 100-rushing TDs, 1,520-yards receiving). Austin has the tools to join his uncle in the pantheon of form NFL greats. Right now,

Big Ass Fans from Lexington, Kentucky has a simple corporate goal. The company is “creating a more comfortable world,” one fan at a time.
There is way more to Big Ass Fan’s product line than its size. Each fan Big Ass Fans makes is backed by a commitment to performance, reliability, and innovation that has been the driving force behind the company for over twenty years.
The logo is the rear of a donkey (Fanny) swishing its tail back and forth. The trademarked logo is among Kentucky’s more celebrated and well known corporate identities across the commonwealth and has come to represent commitment to quality, cutting-edge innovation, and product reliability.
Big Ass Fans is so much more than just a gigantic fan. It is gigantic quality, gigantic performance, and a gigantic commitment to reliability and innovation. Its size is far from the only selling point about our product. Our product is a Kentucky Comfort Creator…and, these days, isn’t that exactly what Kentucky needs?
Union, KY: The Alexanders are among the first families of Kentucky football. Uncle Shaun Alexander was the NFL MVP in 2005, was the offensive POY in 2005, made numerous all-pro teams, played in three (3) pro-bowls, was a former NFL season rushing and touchdowns leader, made the NFL all-decade team, and is in the Seahawks Ring of Honor. That doesn’t count his being a first team All-American and the SEC Player of the Year while at Alabama (1999).
Austin Alexander (6’3,” 238) has been getting it done on the field too. Alexander had three receptions for 44-yards and two scores on offense against Southwestern in the Regional Championship game. He made a single tackle, but made that tackle count as he forced a fumble he scooped up and rumbled 15-yards for a score, giving him 18-points scored on the evening, tied for the club lead.
Alexander has had a fine season. Alexander is a two-phase guy, rare for 5A football, who has caught 37-balls in ’24 for 615-yards and 10-scores. Alexander has scored 66-points on the year.
On defense, where schools have been recruiting him for the most part, Alexander has 44-tackles, 12-TFLs, 10-sacks, two-FFs, and two-FRs. That is how one punches his ticket for the ACC and the Power 4. That is how one gets to North Carolina in the first place.
Alexander is ranked the 56th best DL in the country and is the overall fifth-highest regarded Kentuckian in the KHSAA’s ’25 graduating class. Alexander is an elite, Kentucky high school football prospect. Isn’t that a completely “Alexander” thing to be!?
Now Alexander and his Cooper Jaguars have a tough customer coming to town tonight. Cooper will host Fort Thomas Highlands, one of the winning-est and most successful programs in KHSAA history. We like Highlands in this game, but that may be the traditionalist in us talking. Highlands has a Durden Rating Index of 115 and some change and Cooper comes in at 108 and some change. Below this paragraph is our guess, and it is a guess, although an educated one.
KPGFootball's Prediction: Highlands 35, Cooper 31
Join us next Friday when we feature another worthy KHSAA football player. Until then, let’s keep it comfortable out there Kentucky; and should you need any help with that; contact our friends at Big Ass Fans!
