Lasaters...time to wake up and smell the coffee!

’26 WR transfer upholding a ‘Family Tradition

🎶Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
If I'm down in a honky-tonk
And some ole slick's trying to give me friction
I'll say leave me alone
I'm singing all night long
It's a family tradition
🎶
Hiriam Hank Williams, 1979

Aiden Jesse is a member of one of the first families of the WR position in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. His dad, Maurice was a star wideout for the Tigers “back in the day.” His brother, Reece Jesse (also name Maurice), left the program its all-timer, production-wise, at Hopkinsville High. Aiden, coming off a near 50-receptions season at the cross-town rival (Christian County) has transferred over to “Hoptown” for its last season prior to the merger. It seems appropriate. Heck, it’s a 🎶Family Tradition!🎶

Hopkinsville, KY: Aiden Jesse is coming off a great junior year playing cross-town for the Christian County Colonels. Jesse caught close to 50-footballs a season ago for somewhere between six and seven hundred yards (600-700).

The Jesses, Aiden on the far right

Jesse transferred this offseason to play for Hoptown in its (reportedly) final campaign before the two schools, Christian County High and Hopkinsville High, merge into the Christian County Tigers for the ’26 season. No more Colonel/Tiger rivalry.

Both teams will have to find new programs to hate. They will find someone, we promise.

Hoptown is coming off a 3-7. That record was deceptive as there were numerous “close calls” which just didn’t bounce the right way.

The Tigers plan on benefitting from some of those breaks this coming year in spite of falling on the “bad end” in ’24. Picking up a transfer, like Aiden Jesse, should certainly help with that as Jesse is our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee Player of the Week.

This offseason, Jesse “went off” in the prestigious “Best of the West” Sevens Throw just held in Hopkinsville just a few weeks prior. Matter of fact, Jesse caught six (6) TDs in one game.

Jesse is built similarly to his brother and father. All three of the Jesse men are in the 6’2″ to 6’4″ range. We have Aiden Jesse at 6’3,” 175-pounds with a wingspan quite a bit longer than he is tall.

Jesse, the son of a WR coach at the HS level, runs disciplined routes. Jesse also has explosive verticality and plenty of twitch evidenced by his basketball performances. This means he has good speed which is enhanced by his excellent height and length.

Jesse needs to continue to evidence toughness getting off the line and into passing routs and he needs to continue to use his length and vertical explosion to win the 50/50s. Should he do these things, the sky is the limit for the type of year this kid could well end up having.

Jesse sports a 3.5 GPA academically. With a number like that, he could virtually end up anywhere and at multiple levels.
