With players coming back on the ‘active roster,’ Trigg County has become a dangerous, two-win ball club
Trigg County has fought some injuries this season. At one time or another, it seems most the first string has missed some time. Well, the playoffs are looming and Trigg County has a manageable game upcoming October 30, 2025 against the Fort Campbell Falcons. Here’s the rub, both the Falcons and the Wildcats have to win. The loser is embarking on basketball season. If the Wildcats can get to two and three in the district, riding a two-game win streak, they become a dangerous first round opponent for any team hoping to get draw a round one, easy mark. Funny things happen this time of year, for sure. Brady Calhoun is the best defensive player on the Trigg roster and plays enough offense to make scouting reports have to account for him. Enjoy this look at a junior who is a leader, a fine young man, and one heck of a good football player.

A local, young, high school athlete who also renders superior performance while achieving exceptional quality is Trigg County High’s, Brody Calhoun, ’27 LB/RB. Calhoun is this week’s Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company Superior Performance, Exceptional Quality Player of the Week.

Cadiz, KY: We have before written about Brody Calhoun. Here is the article right here. Calhoun has established himself as a premier defender in western Kentucky football circles.
Now, Trigg County has a game upcoming on Thursday night and the stakes couldn’t be higher. In a game moved owing to federal government shutdown, and a game which required (quite literally) an act of Congress to get rescheduled, Trigg County travels to Oak Grove, Kentucky to play the Fort Campbell Falcons this Thursday night (October 30, 2025).
The two teams have identical district marks. The winner makes the playoffs. The loser starts its basketball season.
We were talking to Offensive Coordinator, Rusty Goble, before this past weekend’s game with Todd County. Coach Goble told us, “This may be as healthy as we have been all year. Aside from Peyton Williams, we are nearly full strength. We go to Elkton tonight the best one-win team in the commonwealth of Kentucky.”
True to form, the Wildcats put a 48-6 thumping on the Rebels from Elkton, KY. That leaves a rehabbed team headed to a classic showdown as a two, as opposed to one, win team.
Among the best players on the Wildcats roster is our Player of the Week, Brody Calhoun. Calhoun is a ’27 kid known mostly for his play at linebacker.
Calhoun leads the team in tackles, is among the leaders in TFLs, is tied for third in QB-sacks, and has recovered a fumble. Now the stats report for Trigg County High School is behind a couple games, so what we report here is through the first six (6) and doesn’t include last Friday night’s Todd County Central game.
Calhoun plays a little offense. Calhoun has caught a pass, carried the ball a few times, and is a mainstay on the coverage and return units. Calhoun’s a three (3) phase guy who stands out defensively; but, has more utility than just the defensive side of the football.
Trigg may be the best (or among the best) two-win teams in the KHSAA at any classification

We talked again with Rusty Goble yesterday about the status of the roster heath wise and the road ahead. He told KPGFootball, “I am stoked to get my QB back healthy to be honest. If [Caden Scott] doesn’t separate his shoulder, we are probably sitting here with two (2) to three (3) more wins and not sweating Thursday’s game at all.”
The road ahead will be tough regardless of Thursday. It is very likely the winner of Thursday’s game gets rewarded with a trip to Owensboro to play Catholic High and its high-powered, top-ranked ball club.
You have to take these games, this time of year, one at a time. First off, Trigg County has to figure out the riddle of Fort Campbell’s monster of an offensive RB, Keshawn Dixon (’26, 1,252-yards rushing and 15-TDs), and JaCaryous Perryman (’26 leading receiving, second leading rusher, second leading passer), with all the athletic things Perryman can do and bring to the table.
Tanner Walters (’28) has stepped up his play since taking over the QB-duties for the Falcons. Antonio Rivera (’26) and Levi Kruse (’27) are two of the top three defenders (along with Dixon) on the squad and must be found by Coach Goble when scheming up his offense for Thursday night’s big game.
This is a big-time opportunity. This is when big-time players step up their play; big-timers like Brody Calhoun.
We can’t make it any simpler than that. We’ll see you at the game!
