’27 defender showed enough in ’24 to get us riled up for this coming season
Isac McKnight played in eight (8) varsity games if the official KHSAA stat-line is reliable, and we have no reason to believe it isn’t. McKnight still logged quite a few statistics and ranked among the “leaders” in several critical categories. What will the sophomore turning junior do this next Fall. Our guess is he will baffle us with his brilliance. We can’t wait!

Morton’s Gap, KY: Isaac McKnight got what is referred to in the biz as “eight (8) games of varsity run” in 2024. That is quite a bit of play for a kid who is a ’27 prospect and, therefore, only a sophomore this past Fall.
McKnight’s production was way more than token. This kid showed out in ’24.
McKnight registered 52-tackles as a sophomore. McKnight also registered a tackle for loss (TFL), two and a half sacks, and recovered a fumble (FR). Another term of art in the biz is McKnight got downhill this past Fall and played some in the opponent’s offensive backfield.
One of the hallmarks of young guys finding the lineup is they do some “catching,” if you follow my meaning. What I mean is young players finding the varsity lineup generally let the play come to them, they don’t attack the football like they learn to do with reps and play-experience.
McKnight tallied 52-tackles, a TFL, and 2.5 QB sacks to go with a FR in ’24 as a sophomore

It may be noteworthy, but not unheard of, for a young kid new to the lineup posting 52-tackles. However, that same kid posting TFLs, QB-sacks, and FRs is pretty rare, for the first tour through the district anyway.
McKnight got downhill in ’24. He registered some of those “specialty stats.” Now, he will be counted on, more and more, to play often in the opponent’s offensive backfield.
Good thing McKnight rung up some experience doing that very thing as a sophomore. Should serve him well in ’25.
Then again, what do we know?
