Independence Bank has started a revolution in the financial services industry

Tilghman ’26 RB looking to bring title back to Paducah, Kentucky

We have been focusing on versatility this offseason. DJ Wilson fits the bill perfectly. In addition to being a football star (over a 1,000-yard rusher as a sophomore on a 13-1, 4A ball club), Wilson also is a wrestler and track athlete. Wilson returns to help lead a ball club loaded with talent the likes of Martel Carter and Jarvis Strickland. This will be a club to watch as we enter the ’24 season.

Demarcus “DJ” Wilson had an incredible year running the ball for Puducah’s “Blue Tornado” as only a sophomore in 2023. Tilghman High finished 13-1 and looked, for much of the year, as a team fated to take home another title.

Wilson scored 14 rushing TDs. Wilson was among the team leaders in “scoring.”

Wilson was effective swinging out of the backfield. On the year, Wilson caught 15-balls, two of which were for TDs, for 155-yards receiving or slightly over 10-yards per reception.

In ’23, DJ Wilson rushed for more than a thousand yards (1,054) and scored 14-rushing TDs

KSHAA statistical website

Wilson is 5’10,” 190-pounds and is a three (3) sport athlete. In addition to football, Wilson is a varsity wrestler and competes on the track team. He has finished in the top-10, Kentucky wide, in both wrestling and track.

Wilson, as a sophomore, gained more than a thousand yards from scrimmage (1,054). He carried the football 138-times, and scored a TD a little less than every 10th-carry.

Wilson averaged 7.64-yards per carry. Playing teams like McCracken (6A), Graves County (5A), Mayfield (2A, ’23 Champion), Henderson County (6A) and the 4A teams in-district, like Logan County, make that per-carry average even more impressive.

Wilson’s performance over his sophomore year and the one we know he will render in ’24, is (and will be) well deserving of this week’s recognition from the fastest growing bank in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, our friends at Independence Bank.
