’27 ATH is multitalented and promises to be a vital piece to next year’s puzzle for the consolidated school

There will be those who will tell you the newly consolidated “Tigers,” from Christian County High, will go as far next season as players like Tremayne Clay can lead them. Clay is a talent and one of five (5) former Hoptown Tigers to make the Big Ass Fans’s Large School, All-State Football Team. The newly consolidated school shouldn’t hurt for talent and the Tigers are amassing an array of coaching talent to “put the team through its paces” in its upcoming inaugural season. Regardless, Clay will be critical. Good thing he is also extremely talented.

Big Ass Fans Large School Football Team Reveal Show

Hopkinsville, KY: Hopkinsville had a solid roster this year with some “Dudes” on it which made a tremendous difference in many of the Tigers’s games. Christian County struggled this past season but lost several players, in the offseason, to Hopkinsville, via transfer, in expectation of the two schools coming back together for 2027.

Chief among the “Dudes” expected to fill out the roster at the newly minted “largest enrollment in the commonwealth” will be athlete Tremayne Clay. When we call a player an “athlete,” particularly a player of Clay’s ilk, what we mean is this guy is so skilled (and so good) we can’t confine him to a single position or phase of the game. Clay can beat you from anywhere which is why he made the ’25 Big Ass Fans (Large School) All-State Football Team.

Clay did a little of everything for the Tigers in ’25. Clay caught 24-passes, six (6) of which he housed, for 582-yards. Clay returned an INT to the house. Clay returned a kickoff to the house.

Clay registered 78-tackles, 14.5-TFLs, three QB-sacks (3), a pair of FFs, and a FR making him one of the commonwealth’s more versatile and deadly defensive weapons. Clay also picked a pair of passes, returned them 74-IRNYs, and housed the “pick-six” about which we previously told you.

Simply put, Clay was among the more skilled, versatile, polished, and talented multi-phase threats in the KHSAA’s 2027 graduating class. Coming into his senior season, it won’t surprise too many for Clay to start appearing on preseason “Mr. Football” lists.

The new-look Christian County Tigers (6A) will boast as much roster talent as any team in the first district

Friday Night Fletch

Clay is a 6’1,” 180-pounder who plays receiver, TE, LB, and safety as a multiphase talent. Clay has good length, speed, and explosion and figures to be a down-hill safety prospect at the next level.

Clay has also been known to be featured on coverage and return units on special teams making him a three (3) phase performer on a talented, 6A roster. That type of versatility is prized by KPGFootball the rest of the sports world and, frankly, should be. Not too many athletes have that many arrows in the quiver.

We don’t know what the future holds for the Tigers as two former rosters will join to form one football team. It will be both a hard and bitter pill for sworn enemies to disavow age-old prejudices in favor of comity and uniting against new foes, new enemies.

We do know this, the new Christian County Tigers may find some truffles hidden amongst the roots of the Hoptown Tigers former football roster. They may find some next-level type kids to utilize, and on whom they may rely, as the two rosters mix together into one.

Identifying Clay as one of those “truffles” is hardly a stretch. Matter of fact, the entire commonwealth wide press corp would join us here, we would imagine.

Identifying a weapon like Tremayne Clay should certainly help get the Christian County Tigers ready for the challenges ahead. That is why Tremayne Clay, is our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee Player of the Week.
