There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bankplayer of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry.

Revolution Square

Today we honor ’24 WR/RB, Xavier Biggers, from Mayfield, Kentucky’s Mayfield High School.

Biggers’ Mayfield High  is very close to a very valued member of the Independence Bank family. There is a Mayfield branch of Independence Bank, well known in the industry as the branch on “Revolution Square” which is located at 100 East College Street right in Mayfield, Kentucky

Biggers is listed as a DB/WR/RB in the ’24 class of Kentucky prospect. This would make him an “athlete” on many recruiting boards for college programs around the area.

Biggers was selected to play in an All-Star Classic for the top 90-players from across Kentucky. This comports with his being selected among the top-10 players in the Jackson Purchase region by WPSD, channel six (6) out of Paducah.

Now Biggers won this very distinction in April of 2023. Of course, when he was awarded this distinction, at that time, we believed he was going to play for Murray High this coming season.

Biggers gained 1,031-yards rushing in 87-carries (11.85-yards per attempt) and scored 11-rushing TD’s.

KHSAA statistical database

Biggers performed “Bigly” this past year for his 2A football team. He gained 1,031-yards rushing in 87-carries (11.85-yards per attempt). He scored 11-rushing TD’s.

Biggers caught 10-passes for 294-yards and six (6) TD’s receiving. That is quite a bit of production from a team running the Veer offense.

Biggers led the team in scoring (110-points). Biggers was among the leaders in tackles (45). Biggers was 4th on the team in INT’s.

I visualize my college years to be a personal growth period…My ultimate goal is to go pro and play in the NFL

Biggers, Mayfield High WR/RB/DB

Biggers, last year for Murray, had the most receptions, had the most yards receiving, caught the most TD’s. Biggers led the team in scoring, tallying points rushing, receiving, returning a kickoff to pay dirt, and scoring two-pointers following TDs.

On defense he was among the leaders in tackles. He was 4th on the team in INT’s and among the leaders in PBU’s (Passes Broken Up).

Biggers is a track guy. Biggers registered 40-yard dash time is 4.5-seconds and his being the regional track champion in the 200-meters would collaborate his 40-time.

Where does Biggers project, next level? Well, at 5’10” he probably will be viewed as a CB.

Of course, with his speed, he could hit the field early in the return game. We can even see his playing RB at the college level.

Regardless, it appears clear to us he will have a next level experience. Between now and then, he will be leading Mayfield back to Kroger Field, if history means anything at all. Won’t that be fun to watch?

Congratulations to Xavier Biggers, both for their Revolutionary Play over the course of the ’22 season and that which is to come as we brace for the Fall of ’23 football and his new journey as a vital cog in the pantheon of Mayfield football lore.

Independence Bank wants the community to know we stand prepared to help our friends and neighbors in every conceivable way. Sponsoring a series of articles to promote middle and high school football athletes in the communities we serve is an omnipresent example of this commitment.

Congratulations to Xavier Biggers for his Revolutionary Play which has earned him this week’s recognition from the fastest growing bank in the Commonwealth of Kentucky…your friends at Independence Bank.
