Clay, a 6’1,” 175-pound TE/LB had 5-receptions for 179-yards & 3-TDs; scored 18-points; & registered 6-tackles, 1-TFL, & an INT returned 52-yards
We had a feeling the Wildcats hosting the Tigers from 6A Hopkinsville High School would be a long night without the services and talents of our All-State RB, Devaree Gude. We were right. We predicted the Tigers would win by 28 if Gude didn’t play. We were a little off; Gude didn’t play, the Tigers won by 27 (55-28). That should NOT diminish the excellent play of our ’27 LB/TE, Tremayne Clay; who is also one of “ours” as we have a wonderful branch, right there, on the Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville, KY. Clay has been a steady and spectacular performer for the Tigers all year long. Clay’s Tigers are sitting at 3-1 presently with a game against South Warren (6A, 4-0), in Hopkinsville, the 19th of September (2025) at the Stadium of Champions. This presents a statement opportunity for Hopkinsville High School. It will take all hands on deck, Clay included (and perhaps, especially), to make that statement.

Friday Night Fletch
Hopkinsville, KY: Having to play the Hoptown Tigers is a tall task for any KHSAA 3A club. This its true if you are having to play the Tigers in Hopkinsville, your place, or the Walmart parking lot.
Hoptown routinely rosters some of the finest athletes on the western end of Kentucky. The Tiger program has a history of knowing how to best utilize its athletes.
Friday night, at Perdue Field in Cadiz, Kentucky, Hoptown’s use of its explosive, twitchy, and athletic freak of a football player, Tremayne Clay, put that skill on full exhibition. Clay went off, period.
Clay caught five (5) passes against Trigg County. His five receptions covered 179-yards and three (3) of the five were for TDs. Clay tied James Bradley, Jr. (’26) with 18-points scored.
Clay also plays linebacker. On defense, Clay registered six (6) tackles, a TFL, and returned his INT 52-yards before being downed outside the end zone.
We predicted the Wildcats would lose to Hoptown, at home, by 28 if Davaree Gude didn’t play. Gude didn’t play. Hoptown won by 27-points.
The Tigers head home to brace for a visit from one of the commonwealth’s highest rated, and best coached, teams. South Warren visits Hoptown the 19th of September (2025) and they have won prior titles at 4A and 5A with this being their inaugural season in 6A.
The Spartans are off to a fast start (4-0). So far this season, the Spartans have beaten 6A perennial powers, Bryan Station (Lexington) and duPont Manual (Louisville), as well as routing the defending 5A title holder, Bowling Green Senior HS, last weekend, 45-14.
No head football coach in this end of Kentucky gets his troops ready for battle any better than South Warren’s, Brandon Smith. We are sure being the son of Hall of Fame coach, Chuck Smith, doesn’t hurt.
We can’t make it any simpler than that. We’ll see you at the game!
