This week we are featuring a player, Taylor Groves, whose being featured may seem odd to you, at first. See, Taylor Groves played in only 2 varsity football games a year ago. He carried the football only twice, but gained 40 yards. He only caught 6 passes in his two games, but averaged 18.5 yards per reception and caught a TD pass. He tallied 151 all-purpose yards and 178 total yards for only two games of action. It would appear the 6-1, 155 pounder got more action on the hardwood than on the gridiron, especially considering the only photograph of him, playing anything, we could find online was of him playing a sport we don’t cover. I mean, what gives?

It isn’t as if the Indians didn’t need the help. They were 4-6 a year ago and didn’t even make the playoffs. Why did a guy who averaged 20 yards a carry, 18.5 yards a reception and had 178 total yards and a score in only two games not get more opportunities? Are you ready for this? How about…because he was in the eighth grade! Haven’t talked with Coach Chad Broadrick about Taylor Groves but I am willing to bet he is exuberant about what this kid brings to the table once he is actually enrolled in high school. Hmmm, wonder if this kid is kin to Carlos Groves? I bet he is.

Congratulations to Taylor Groves for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.
