Well guys, we will be regularly appearing on two different podcasts this coming season. We will be on Cleats 2 Whistle and (of course) our own Friday Night Kentucky which will air for the third season with Scott Fitzgerald. We identified John Luke Minner as one of the best LBs in the KHSAA in 2024. That is why he made first team All-State on our Big Ass Fan’s Small School team. Coming into ’25 he figures to be on the list again provided he performs commensurate to how he performed a year ago. He has committed to play collegiately at Brown University in the Ivy Leagues. That is a Division I ride to one of the country’s most prestigious schools. If catching a ride to the Ivy Leagues isn’t prize worthy, we aren’t sure we know what is. I got a call one time from a kid who had signed with Princeton. Princeton, like Brown, is an Ivy League school, or the elite of the elite as this country has historically thought of the Ivy League. Well anyway this kid was voicing some displeasure about Princeton’s having a bad season. My response…”Are you kidding me, son? You’re going to Princeton. Who cares if you go 0-40 while there? You’re still getting a degree from Princeton.” You get the point. Football is a tool to a better life if you’re smart about it. I know it seems this particular feature has promoted quite a few Sayre Spartans. We can assure you it isn’t intended. It is just hard to ignore a program which has just polished off a perfect regular season at 10-0 headed into the Class A KHSAA playoffs. Why is that so hard to ignore? How about because there are only seven (7) such records among the 223-programs playing football across the commonwealth and Sayre is the only perfect regular season in its classification. Luke Pennington, a Dayton commit, has been keeping it pretty cool out there under the “Friday Night Lights.” Matter of fact, our Kentucky Comfort Creator has thrown 82-TDs the last two seasons without a single INT. He completes nearly 80% of his passing attempts making him among the most efficient QBs the high school game in Kentucky has ever seen. Enjoy the feature and let’s keep it cool out there Kentucky.

Being a Pennington isn’t easy. Being a Pennington headed to Marshall to play QB will prove to be even more challenging. His is one of the most recognized names in Kentucky football. Largely because his dad, Chad Pennington, who is also the head football coach of the Sayre’s program, played 10-years in the NFL, was a Heisman Trophy finalist for Marshall’s Thundering Herd, and was drafted 18th-overall, as the first QB in the 2000 NFL draft. However, his son’s ability to play the same position is drawing quite a few apt comparisons.
