This usually is a pretty fun article. A few days ago we posted the “KPGFootball Scorecard.” On that document we memorialized the matchup and just who we believed would win and why. What we do in the scorecard is give you the solution. What we don’t do is demonstrate how we worked the problem. Thursdays, during the football season, we often publish an article which “shows our math.” If you read this article you will see why we picked the teams we picked to win and why we picked the teams we picked to lose. You may not agree and that is okay. We are wrong between 5-15% of the time. It makes for fine reading and generous discussion. Enjoy the article.

The standout star for Murray High School (KY) is Ryan Walls, a highly touted four-star offensive lineman. Walls is widely ranked as the #2 overall player in the state of Kentucky and a top-10 interior offensive line prospect nationally for his class. Walls has been a cornerstone of the line, starting every varsity game over his freshman and sophomore seasons to lead Murray High. Walls was also th State Shot Put Champion a year ago as only a sophomore. Walls’ dominant run-blocking at left tackle permits Murray’s offense to operate at a massive advantage, clearing paths for top rushers like Bruce Willis (’27 QB) who is averaging 187.0 rushing yards per game this season. I was watching a college football game on television last night (September 12, 2026) and Georgia Tech had a monster at TE who couldn’t be stopped. Over and over again the Ramblin’ Wreck kept targeting this 6’9,” 270 pounder over the middle of the defense. It was impressive. I would have run it until someone showed me it could be stopped or even slowed a bit. The kid for Georgia Tech was named Kevin Roche, Jr. and he hailed from Connecticut. Murray High has such a TE and his name is Owen Howell. Howell is a 6’4,” 220-pounder with a 4.7-GPA and a 29 on his ACT. Scores like that and you can gain admission to Georgia Tech or anywhere else you might want to go. Enjoy this look at Howell as he is our Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company weekly featured player.

Bruce Willis (’27) from Murray High is the Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company Superior Performance, Exceptional Quality Player of the Week @KatherineL58069, @murrayhighFB, @MurrayQBClub, @LasatersCoffee, @eCampusdotcom, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @County_TigerFB, #Kentuckys #fletcherwlong #LeadershipLegacy #CoachingExcellence #MentorshipMatters #characterbuilding #SportsLeadership #BuildingChampions #kentuckyfootball #highschoolfootball #DisciplineAndDedication #athletics #successmindset #bookstagram #booklovers

Bruce Willis, a dual-threat, 2027 QB from West Tennessee who moved (luckily) into Murray High’s district this offseason, led his new team to an impressive, 58-50, double-overtime victory over Class 5A, first District contender Owensboro Apollo. Willis looks in firm control of Melvin Cunningham’s offense and able to deliver the type offensive production necessary for the Tigers to make another run at the Class 3A, KHSAA football title this year. Willis doesn’t throw it quite as well as last year’s QB (Wyatt Robbins) but he runs it better and the result in a dynamic, versatile offense that will be hard for 3A, western KY defenses to manage. Enjoy this inaugural, 2026, Bank of Cadiz Player of the Week. We’re playing for patches now, Men! Now, it gets serious! Enjoy the feature…

All hail the King! King Williams is an exceptional athlete with plenty of skills to make a sizable contribution on the Murray High football roster. Melvin Cunningham has built an enviable program while at Murray High and his Tigers figure to be in the title chase again in 2026. Lots of big-bodies on that Tiger roster. Lots of athletes on that Tiger roster. Plenty of “Williamses” on that roster. King’s name should be familiar to you. He has toured around the western end of Kentucky before landing at one of the premier destinations for football in the KHSAA. This guy is a load, can play some QB, lists DE among his defensive positions (which should tell the reader something of his demeanor and disposition), and is equally dangerous as a big-bodied skill as he is along a line of scrimmage using his speed and quicks to his physical advantage. Any other high school player looking to physically challenge King Williams, or any Williams, better bring along his “Big Boy Britches.” Enjoy this look at this week’s Bank of Cadiz Featured Player.

Murray High had a tremendous signal caller in 2025 who has moved on to the Murray State Racers and will now play on Saturdays. Still, Melvin Cunningham has built an enviable program while at Murray High and his Tigers figure to be in the title chase again in 2026. Lots of big-bodies on that Tiger roster. Lots of athletes on that Tiger roster. There is even a transfer from Dresden, TN who comes to town well thought of, successful, and much ballyhooed for his prior on-field successes. HIs name should be familiar to you. It is Bruce Willis, the same as the Hollywood “leading man,” Bruce Willis. This guy is a load, plays QB, lists MLB as his defensive position (which should tell the reader something of his demeanor and disposition), and is equally dangerous breaking down defenses with his arm or his legs. He ain’t going to juke you if you catch our drift. If you are going to tackle him, you better bring along your “Big Boy Britches.” Enjoy this look at this week’s Bank of Cadiz Featured Player.

The season is right around the corner and we are doing what we typically do every year. We are going through the classifications, 1A-6A, and breaking down how we see the coming year progressing. We study these type things, have analyzed coaching staffs, personnel changes, and other statistical data to arrive at an opinion which is far from a guess. Enjoy this look today at 3A, a classification one of our area high schools (Murray High) will likely figure prominently before the season is over. Thanks for your support and thank you to our friends, partners, and neighbors, the Bank of Cadiz & Trust Company.
