The @BigAssFans, Small School (1A, 2A, & 3A) All-State Football Team

December 10, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

We will start out this all-state team with an admonition with which we begin every team we have ever published. We will miss on some guys. It is just important to note that your son not making out team doesn’t mean he wasn’t an all-state caliber player. Also, we expressly reserve the right to re-enter the team, even after it is published, and add worthy players who may have been missed or accidentally omitted. That being said, our small and large school All-State football teams, sponsored by Big Ass Fans, are the most expansive and complete teams in the business. This team here, and the coaches’s team published by the Courier Journal, are the only two legitimate teams in existence and we believe our team to be much more complete and legitimate than even theirs. Congratulations to the players who made the team and congratulations to the wonderful world of Kentucky high school football for providing us with the endless thrills and discussions we net from our following this, the greatest game on earth.

Friday Night Fletch.

KPGFootball’s Preseason Top-Five (2A)

June 12, 2025 Fletcher Long 2

It is that time of year. It is time to start figuring which teams, entering the ’25 season, figure to factor in the title chase. We have detailed what we think here and it is based on our study of the incoming, ’25 rosters, what players return, what players graduated, and other various factors we have perfected through the years to render such predictions. We plan to do this for all of Kentucky’s six classifications and there is no guarantee we will go in order from the top down, or the bottom to the top. There are good football teams in the KHSAA and there are bad ones and those teams span all of the six classes. Enjoy today’s look at 2A. Keep checking back as we may drop another class any time we feel like it.

Gavyn Combs from Betsy Layne may spell his name funny, but his game-play is straight fire! @BLBobcatsFB, @GavynXLCombs33, @Mike_Stoops41, @UKCoachStoops, @vincemarrow, @khsaafootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @KyHighFootball

Gavyn Combs is a real ’27 prospect. He is 6’5,” 275-pounds and had 84-tackles, eight (8) TFLs, two (2) sacks, and a FF as a sophomore on a nine (9) win, 2A, District 8 ball club. We probably would have spelled his name with an “i” instead of a “y” if it had been up to us. We probably wouldn’t have spelled Betsy Layne with a “y” either and we darn sure wouldn’t spell Coach Jarredd Jarrell’s name with all those “r’s,” “d’s,” or “I’s.” Then again, as long as it works. Buddy, it is flat working! The Bobcats from Floyd County may make a deep run in ’25 and, if they do, that “stork” of a DL/DE will have some say in why they did. Enjoy the feature.

Kylan Combs from Breathitt County…the ‘Mayberry’ in the Kentucky Mountains @combs_kylan @BreathittFB @minguabeefjerky @1776Bank @840WHAS

January 7, 2024 Fletcher Long 0

This player has made every All-Whatever Team available to him in his short HS career and figures to keep making these teams. He has the nose for the football one would expect from a kid whose dad (Shorty Combs) is considered a mountain football legend and former EKU linebacking star. Kylan is also among the brightest and nicest kids the Appalachias has to offer. Enjoy this feature. Friday Night Fletch!

Kory Combs is the very picture of guts. That is why this article has the title it does. That is why Combs is so highly regarded among his football playing brethren across the commonwealth. Enjoy this article. HB.

Middle School Spotlight: @Jaydenjustice (’27) from @PikevilleHSFB is an ‘upper-level’ performer. @OfficialKYMSFA @AlPopsFooball @JasonJu79469991 @1776Bank @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @KyHighFootball

Jayden Justice is a middle school kid who everyone across Kentucky is already discussing. With Future Stars tryouts ongoing there is little doubt this LBer will be representing Kentucky this summer in the Tennessee-Kentucky Future Stars Classic. He is one of Kentucky’s very best in the ’27 class. Enjoy the feature. HB.

Pike County’s Jayden Justice, Class of ’27, is the @minguabeefjerky Protein-packed Player of the Week! @1776Bank @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @PCHawksHangout

We don’t generally write features or award these type distinctions to 6th-graders. However, we haven’t seen many 6th-graders ball out like what we witnessed from Jayden Justice this past weekend in Nashville, Tennessee leading Kentucky over Tennessee in the Future Stars game. He was really something and the game couldn’t have been more exciting. Join us next week as we do all of this once more… HB Lyon.
