Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) is tracking that title this year in 2A and the Eagles have all the flight power needed to walk off Kroger Field very, very happy. The Carrico brothers from Owensboro are really something. These boys lead one of 2A’s more successful football programs and both of them look to get ‘Next Level’ rides. We are approaching round four (4) in the KHSAA playoffs. All of these teams left standing are very good. There are exactly no bad apples left in the barrel. It will be the “little things” which differentiate between winning and losing at this point. “Mighty Mayfield” has themselves the home field and a kicker in Lincoln Suiter who has before come through for the Cardinals in a “big game,” with the game on the line. If called upon, Friday night, will he come through once more? We shall see, but the Cardinals are confident. Enjoy the feature. HB.

There are numerous stars ladening the LCA football roster and some “up and comers” of whom you may not even know presently destined to be stars. Still the straw which appears to stir the drink of the ’22 version of the Eagles football team appears to be this Will Nichols kid. There is very little about him online and we had to work hard to bring you this report. We promise you, we dug harder to get this article published than any college coach is going to work to find him or any other “under the radar” player out in the commonwealth. LaRue County’s all-everything QB from ’21 has bolted to LCA. Where does that leave the Hawks? Well, it leaves them in need of someone to step it up in ’22 particularly under center. We believe the job will fall to Riley Hatfield, or perhaps it should. We believe Hatfield has the frame and skills to excel there and will lead the program back to its usual place of prominence.
