Big E Commits to University of Charleston (W.Va.) as we tearfully say good-bye to our first class of Sophomore All-Staters…

January 28, 2020 Henry Lyon 0

We have chosen to bid farewell to a class of football players on whom we “cut our teeth” so to speak. These guys were on our first KPGFootball Sophomore All-State team. These guys never let us down and we don’t see them disappointing us in college either. Good-bye class of 2020, we will miss you…we will forever love and remember you. Coach Lyon, individually and for the entire staff of KPGFootball.

Collins (2020) & Long (2021) are “Double-Trouble” for Breathitt Opponents…

October 20, 2019 Henry Lyon 1

The two players we are featuring together in this article are two guys who both relocated to Jackson, Kentucky (as luck would have it) during this summer. Both of their parents found employment in the area and uprooted their respective families. The Collins family has long-standing ties to Breathitt County High School as the Collins boys prior to CA Collins all played at Breathitt. The Longs had never been to Jackson, Kentucky before finding employment in the area and deciding to locate there. It has worked out swimmingly for a team which no media outlet predicted would do much in 2019 but which is absolutely killing it with considerable contribution from the two guys who have (naturally) bonded. Individually they are “CA Collins” and “William Long” but together they spell Double-Trouble for Breathitt opponents.

So you’re D-I?

We get asked (all the time) to tell this school or that whether this player or that can play at the school’s level of competition. There are people out there who possess “the eye.” If they say a kid can play at a certain level, college coaches have learned they can trust that. JT Powell and Carlos Younger are certainly two people possessing “the eye.” We talked to Powell about what one has to be, to be able to get to the next level of football (from HS to college). This article contains what he told us…

Hopkinsville’s Denarius “Red” Barnes (2020) is the Meeks & Meeks Montgomery County area Player of the Week

August 16, 2019 Fletcher Long 0

Red Barnes has been a favorite of ours since he transferred to HHS from Wonder Junior High in West Memphis, Arkansas to play his sophomore season. He is one of the best defensive linemen in the Class of 2020 and one of its leading citizens too. This is a kid who we believe is a college football player (no doubt) but isn’t likely to be positioned in college where the Tigers have deployed him. The fact he has thrived along an even defensive front, though undersized, buttresses everything good about his ability we have consistently maintained. This kid is a winner and a player who makes teams for which he plays better teams. Can’t complement any young player anymore than that. Enjoy the article.

It is STUDENT-athlete, not student-ATHLETE; the migration toward elite academics over the football factory

June 20, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

This may be the most important article we have published. There is a trend taking over the commonwealth of Kentucky and we love it. The trend, committing to elite academic institutions over waiting on D-1s to come-off with an offer, appears to be spreading and thank the good Lord for that. Look people, it is STUDENT-athlete and not student-ATHLETE. Let’s be smart out there and use our athletic talents to set us up with academic opportunities which set us up for rewarding, fulfilling, and comfortable lives.

The recruitment for Kentucky’s top 2021 linebacker, Austin Gough, is getting hotter

June 11, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

He’s the top rated linebacker in Kentucky’s class of 2021 and the class’s overall top rated football player at any position. He has been setting records with his play at Owensboro Senior High School a program which has produced a few players in its day. Now, Austin Gough is killing it on the camp/combine circuit and some big-timers are clamoring for his services. Enjoy this article about a kid who will start getting offers in short order. From head to toe, this is a Division I, FBS level, football player.

Kentuckians shine with performances at the APC…

April 28, 2019 Fletcher Long 0

We couldn’t get to every Kentucky performance and there were more outstanding performances from Kentucky athletes than we could possibly record. However, these performances were extraordinary and were worthy of mention on what was a find day for Kentucky prospects demonstrating they should be recruited as hard as any other state represented.
