Isaiah Fitzpatrick was among Kentucky’s very finest as a high school football player. Several in-state schools felt strongly enough about that to insist on fully funding his upcoming college experience. He jumped on the opportunity, leaving some bigger programs trying to PWO him to their roster hanging at the alter. In the grand scheme, he was shrewd, smart, and cagy and we applaud his decision. Enjoy this feature. HB.

Isaiah Fitzpatrick is among the best RBs in Kentucky ’22 class. There are high school programs in Kentucky where he would be a D-1 guy. We still think he is a D-1 guy and some team below D-1 is going to wind up with a All-conference/All-American type at its level of play. Lucky them. Enjoy the feature. HB.

Anderson County’s Darion Dearinger, an All-State DE by any definition (featured Photo: Melissa Klink Photography)

It is getting time to start thinking about All-State selections. When it comes to voting on the All-State team (AP), we nominate guys positionally for inclusion. What we mean by that is when the AP asks for five linemen we nominate a center, two guards, and two tackles. The way we treat it is who would we want if this mythical team were going to play a game against another team and we really, really wanted to win. When we are asked for 4 defensive linemen, for instance, we give two DEs and two interior guys for the mythical defensive line. We nominate two safeties and two corners for the back end, so on and so forth. Our criteria is a simple one, our first team player would have to be good enough to transfer anywhere in Kentucky and be first team wherever he landed at the position at which he is being nominated. With that as a working criteria, which isn’t going to change, we will feature, from now through the opening of the ballot, players we believe fit that bill. We will start with a DE from Anderson County for which there will be little to any debate.

Someone contacted old Coach Lyon and asked when we were going to put out our preseason top-10 football polls for each classification. Well, today seemed like as good a day as any to continue the tradition. Since KPGFootball started with the top classification when picking district winners, this time we started with Class 1A and yesterday we projected Class 3A. Today we give you our projections for the next classification up from the lowest one, here is Class 4A!

The Freshman All-State Defensive Line

I don’t know whether any of you remember a player who played for the Chiefs for six years and then was traded to the St. Louis Rams in 2007, out of Texas A&M, named Dante Hall. You might know him as The Human Joystick, his nickname, but he is considered, by […]

The All-State Football Athletes…

There is a saying that has been around football for years the exact origins of which I can’t pinpoint. I know Coach Phillip Fulmer, formerly the HC at the University of Tennessee, used to say it commonly, but I don’t think it originated with him. It really sounds like something […]

Darion Dearinger, Class of 2021, All-American DE

Have any of you ever been to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky? Lawrenceburg is the county seat of Anderson County which, at the taking of the last Census, had a population in the neighborhood of 21,000 or so people. Kentucky Prep Gridiron can assure you of one thing…there are a lot of schools planning trips […]
